If you’re looking for authenticity with high-end gastronomy but a slightly more relaxed setting, this is a gem. Their creative French dishes are both comforting and elegant.

I reserved a dinner for 11 here for one of my birthday dinners in Bordeaux. The restaurant is located on the other side of the river from the centre of Bordeaux in a quieter area of town. Contrary to an earlier review, I found the food creative and delicious. We all had the 4 plate tasting menu. A highlight was the seaweed bun. So playful and tasty. The langoustine was yummy as well. I also had sweetbreads for the first time and loved it. I would characterize the food as more modern fare rather than classical French. Portions were appropriate. We weren't left hungry but nor were we stuffed. Services were perfectly paced and very attentive. Not overly intrusive. The inside of the restaurant is small, but they prepared a long table for us off to the side of the main dining area where we had a little privacy. We were pretty loud so I hope we didn't disturb the other guests. If you are looking for a special occasion dining experience, I would highly recommend l'Oiseaux Bleu.

Un régale pour les pupilles et les papilles ! Merveilleuse balade culinaire pour clôturer un agréable séjour bordelais. L’ensemble de l’équipe est souriant. Le cadre est intimiste et coquet. We had high expectations for this dinner, hoping the chef team would showcase their creativity with fresh, local ingredients. The service was good and the staff were friendly, but the food was a letdown.
Most of the dishes were underwhelming—not terrible, but lacking the spark you’d expect from a restaurant of this caliber. The only standouts were the bread and the smoked tuna. The rest felt forgettable. The pork dish was especially disappointing: it didn’t taste good, the sauce was too salty, and the pork itself was tough and dry—fully cooked but not tender, with no clear flavor or concept behind it. It left us wondering what the restaurant was trying to highlight with this seasonal menu.
In France, many places use local ingredients with excellent results. Unfortunately, L’Oiseau Bleu didn’t deliver that same level of thought or taste. Based on this experience, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Nous avons pris le menu L'Envol. C'était délicieux, aucune fausse note, d'excellentes saveurs et surprises, un plaisir ! En revanche, ce soir là, le service n'était pas bon : énormément d'attente entre les plats (3h), spray nettoyant pendant notre dessert, décoration froide et table trop grande pour 2. Le personnel était sympathique. C'est dommage car cela a entaché notre soirée et notre avis sur le restaurant.

Nous avons profité d'une excellente expérience gustative, grâce à la parfaite maîtrise d'une grande cuisine gastronomique et à un service attentionné mais sans lourdeur, pour un rapport qualité prix intéressant.

We had just a pleasant experience on Saturday evening at this restaurant. Saturdays, for dinner, you can pick between a 4 or 6 meal course, the difference being that you get a cheese platter and a second entree for the 6 course. I enjoyed it so much and hopefully the pictures will do it justice❤️

Excellente table que je recommande. Les plats sont savoureux et raffinés avec une présentation très soignée. Je recommande l'accord mets et vins. La présentation des vins par le sommelier est argumentée et intéressante.

My first lunch experience in a Michelin star restaurant. I always prefer the dinner experience in Michelin restaurants. But this was fascinating and it’s 100% worth it. The food with the great local ingredients was amazing and especially when you pair with Bordeaux wine. The staff was super friendly and welcoming giving me all the details about the dishes and the wine. Must try in Bordeaux experience.

Un véritable délice. Le chef fait des merveilles Tous les plats sont succulents, présentation irréprochable, le service discret, efficace. L'accord des vins est un peu cher mais cela vaut la peine avec de belles découvertes. Prenez une bouteille, si vous préférez mais vous n'aurez pas forcément un vin adapté aux 4 ou 5 Plats.
