Reste quand même assez cher !
Car park was another advantage
We also encountered some issues with the hotel itself:
- The phone system between rooms was not working.
- The air conditioning was not cooling at all, which was a major inconvenience.
Overall, it was a frustrating experience, and we wouldn't recommend the apartment in its current state. Hopefully, this feedback can help improve the services and amenities provided.
Spa : impeccable
Chambre spacieuse et vue magnifique.
Will definitely come back one day.
The problems began immediately at arrival and dropping bags st the hotel required two laps and double parking. There is no hotel supervision. Despite my Diamond status being visible in the system, the hotel manager became argumentative when I declined to provide an additional card swipe. Most telling was the complete absence of a welcome drink – a basic courtesy that signals genuine hospitality at comparable properties, instead they gave a small box of tea bags!
The suite offered pleasant lake views but revealed numerous cost-cutting measures. The room lacked electric blinds, forcing manual adjustment of window treatments. The temperature control system completely failed to function, making it impossible to achieve comfortable sleeping conditions despite multiple attempts. The bathroom proved equally disappointing, with generic products in basic bottles resembling those at budget chains rather than the quality amenities expected at a luxury lakefront property.
Perhaps most bizarrely, the room contained only a couple of bottles of warm Evian water. When requesting additional water, front desk staff informed me I had “two options” – the executive lounge or purchase via room service. This policy becomes absurd considering Evian’s famous natural springs are literally a 9-minute walk away. Charging for water in the birthplace of Evian water represents a fundamental misunderstanding of hospitality. On the second night it got even worse and we were told it was hotel policy not to leave water at all! Instead we returned to the room around 20.00 to find the corridor full of empty bottles.
The executive lounge provided one of the most underwhelming experiences. Evening reception consisted of basic soup and bread – fare unsuitable even for mid-scale properties - and certainly no where in summer! No sweet options or substantial hors d’oeuvres were available, eliminating key benefits Diamond members expect.
The self-serve drink policy further diminished the experience, replacing the attentive service that should characterize quality executive facilities.
Room service closed at 22:00, restricting convenience for guests. Parking required additional payment and involved an unsigned walk, creating unnecessary arrival friction. Internet connectivity delivered inadequate 12Mbps speeds, falling short of modern business travel requirements and making video conferencing impossible.
Most telling was the complete absence of Diamond recognition at breakfast – one of the most basic elite benefits across the Hilton portfolio yet completely ignored by staff.
These weren’t isolated lapses but systematic failures suggesting fundamental management deficiencies. Every touchpoint revealed cost-cutting measures and training inadequacies that undermine both Hilton’s brand promise and reasonable guest expectations.
Until significant management changes address these fundamental problems, this property cannot be recommended to discerning travellers.
I have only one thing in need of an upgrade, and that is the gym. It's really nice and tidy overall but the air conditioning could be better, also lacks weights for smaller customers. Please get little weights too, 2- 5 kg!
Loved Hilton Evian, would come again.
