1. the hotel desk staff was very friendly and helpful;
2. the location in old downtown Bordeaux is interesting and scenic, with shops featuring produce, wine, chocolate, bread and pastries, many cafes, and fascinating public fountains and sculptures. Arriving by car was difficult, with some grid-locked traffic points.
On the minus side:
1. the room is quite small, but the bed is in good condition, and the bathroom is clean and functional; there are two small hard chairs, and a ledge serves as a desk; there is a nice balcony;
2. the elevator is slow, with room for 4 people without luggage, 3. the breakfast was OK, but not nearly as good as several much cheaper hotels on this trip -- no hot food was offered,
4. the parking is in a 7 level underground garage across the street with a steep and narrow spiral ramp, and we had to find it by guess-work; parking with the hotel discount is 18 euro per day
5. the lobby has minimal seating, three people maximum, the front desk, and a complimentary coffee machine.
If I were doing this again, I would book a suburban chain hotel with free parking, and use public transit (the street cars look comfortable and efficient, but we did not try them) and Uber rides to go downtown.
