If you want to snorkel on your own, this resort is ideal. You can rent a kayak directly from the front desk and take it out all day long, getting out anywhere you want in the shallow lagoon to snorkel. I recommend you bring your own snorkel equipment (which I always do when I travel). Use toothpaste to keep your mask defogged, and enjoy this great location! All of the snorkel tours come to the area of this hotel, so most people pay to snorkel there with a guide.|Also, yes, the island has a lot of mosquitos, and there are a lot of mosquitos at this resort. I use natural essential oil spray that works great and keep it in my purse literally everywhere I go. Do this, and you can keep the bites down to a minimum. As an alternative, most shops in Tahiti and Moorea carry their own natural mosquito repellant using a specific plant oil that the mosquitos hate. So if you don't bring your own I recommend buying it.||Also, this resort is close enough to food and a small market for supplies. Casa Vinzeno definitely has (by far) the best food in the area; make a reservation online the day before. Also, Holy Steak House is nearby, and it has a nice ambiance and food.||Lastly, I loved the beautiful and homey decor at this place. From the pond, to the plant canopies, to the outdoor kitchen, to the shared living area full of seating and lounge spots- it was all so great!

If you are looking for the closest thing to over the water bungalow without paying the premium price, this place is for you. Our room, Princess Lokelani, has its own private patio and outdoor eating area. The water is so clear and calm that you can see school of fishes without going into the lagoon. A lot of tour companies pick-up from this location. Staffs are very friendly. There is a small market about 15 minutes walking from the bungalow. You can see sun rise and sun set from the patio. Very peaceful and relaxing location. Bring insect repellant, even though the bedroom is fully enclosed, but the kitchen area has bamboo wall and plants. The privacy is there but, there is small gaps for mosquitos to get in. I will definitely stay there again.

Das Hotel hat "nur" 8 Zimmer und bietet Entspannung und Ruhe pur. Es liegt in einer romatisch angelegten Gartenanlage direkt am Meer. Der Sevice war super. Die Zimmer einwandfrei. Es gibt kein Restaurant im Hotel, aber man kann das Frühstück und auch thailändisches Mittag- oder Abendessen aufs Zimmer liefern lassen und es auf der Terrasse geniessen. Es gibt 2 Restaurants, die ihre Gäste im Hotel abholen und zurückbringen! Die Managerin Aileen hilft beim Buchen vom Mietauto und von Ausflügen. Den ganztägigen Schnorchel-Ausflug "Magic Day" (Seasafari) können wir sehr empfehlen! Es war toll!! Wir können es sehr weiter empfehlen! Danke für die wunderschönen Tage!

We found this tropical paradise by chance and have to admit that booking it for just one night in the presidential suit for my family of four was nothing short of magical and memorable. Upon our arrival, we were greeted warmly with garland and welcome cocktails and were shown the property which is strikingly beautiful and tastefully decorated. We felt at home away from home and watched sharks and string rays and variety of colorful fish swim by the deck .We enjoyed watching the sunset and captured some stunning pictures. The breakfast was fresh and delicious..We were booked in Sofitel for the following days and my children missed this enchanting property inspite of being in the beautiful overwater bungalow in Sofitel. We definitely would like to visit this property another time and stay for longer duration to really soak in it’s unfiltered beauty and mesmerizing environment. Ms. Eileen, the property owner has done a wonderful job decorating and making this place an absolute wonderland.

Amazing peace of heaven

Most beautiful place!! So we actually stayed at the Four Seasons Bora Bora which was beautiful but there is something so special and personal about this property….nothing compares! Definitely stay here plus you don’t have to pay for a tour to swim with sting rays and sharks you can just kayak there from the hotel.

This place is so unique! Upon checking in, they'll give you a fresh lei and a tour of the place and explain the rules and charges of the hotel. They charge for pretty much everything here, including the water equipment, but whatever. This place is so unique I loved just being there. There can be a bit of a language barrier problem, but when I was there, I only saw other Americans.| But you can't beat this location! If your suite isn't right on the water, it's at least VERY close to the water. My suite also had a little kitchenette which had a fridge, microwave, blender, toaster, coffeemaker, electric kettle, flatware, dishes, cutting board, and various glassware with a wine key! | This kitchenette was in a walkway connecting the bedroom to the bathroom which is DARK at night. Bring a flashlight or turn on the light because something ran across my feet when I tried to use the bathroom in the night.| This place is quite a ways away from the ferry dock (like the other side of the island) so be aware of that. But when I booked a snorkeling tour, they were able to drop us off right at our hotel dock.| Also, mosquitoes. There's nothing you can do but just accept that they're everywhere, small, and kinda invisible. Also in that walkway connecting the bedroom and the bathroom, there's ants that cover your feet as soon as you step onto the ground. There's several house cats that sometimes wander into your suite, but mine was my little buddy for the week, along with a crab on our deck and a bright green gecko. I was in the Princess Leilani suite.| The AC in our room worked great! The TV is app based, and there is a mini bar (for an additional charge) in addition to your mini fridge.| But you can't beat snorkeling off your back patio right as you wake up. But be aware of the strength of the current that day. Also my friend and I enjoyed sitting on that patio at night drinking wine watching the full moon over the water.| The tropical environment and decor makes this place so unique and special. There's a great steak restaurant and convenience store within walking distance. But location to the water and unique vibe would bring me back.

Une merveilleuse découverte pour un séjour inoubliable ! Cet endroit a une âme, on se sent bien et tout le monde est aux petits soins. La décoration atypique de ce lieu signée Eileen est un enchantement, tout est pensé dans le moindre détail. Cette artiste a mis son cœur et son âme dans la création de cet endroit magique, le mobilier, ses tableaux, la verdure qui nous enveloppe, tout y est ! Sans nul doute le plus bel hôtel de Moorea avec une vue sur le lagon et un lever de soleil à couper le souffle, des chambres qui sont de vrais cocons ! Matinée au milieu des jolies raies et soirée à observer les requins qui longent le ponton, c’était parfait.

Magique. Mille fois mieux qu'un hôtel de luxe, la prétention en moins.

Incroyable hôtel. Les chambres sont magnifiques et bien agencées. Les différents salons et le ponton qui donnent sur le lagon permettent de passer de bon moment. Très bons cocktails et service de massage. Bravo Eileen pour ce bel endroit!

Le lieu est superbe et très calme. Il est situé face au meilleur spot de snorkeling de Moorea ( requins et raies ). La suite avec sa terrasse et sa plage privée est sublime. Le Fenua mata ioa est sans nul doute incomparable aux grands hôtels de luxe il y’a le même confort mais avec seulement 7 suites on se sent seul au monde et l’accueil d’Eileen la propriétaire est extraordinaire ! Nous avons un seul mot en tête pour décrire notre séjour de 4 nuits : MAGIQUE

Beautiful small hotel. Lots of greenery and beautiful view of the lagoon. We had a very nice stay. Loved seeing all the animals around in including fish, sting rays, and geckos. There are 2 rooms with private decks and then a shared large deck for all in the hotel. There are several shared spaces that we didn’t use but were very nice. Hotel staff is very friendly and care about your experience. Room service every day was nice. Everything was very clean.
There is a good restaurant walking distance but that’s about it for walking distance. Watch the hours of the restaurants too as all restaurants around the island tend to close from about 2-5/6 so be careful you don’t get hungry during that time. There is a grocery store walking distance as well. Read the book for things to do! Hotel staff will book things for you such as cocobeach, any tours, or restaurants you want to go to. We loved this place.

This resort is amazing. Irene is a fantastic host. Breathtaking views. Relax and unwind in paradise.

Mon conjoint et moi avons vécu un séjour merveilleux dans ce lieu magique ! Un peu secret, caché... Cet endroit a une âme. Vous pouvez vous prélasser sur les transats du ponton en admirant les poissons ou en sirotant un cocktail ou encore découvrir les différents salons. Calme, le Fenua Mata'i'oa est idéal en couple. La chambre est belle, la literie est très bonne et petit plus pour la douche végétalisée que j'ai trouvé magnifique ! Il n'y a pas de restaurant mais possibilité de réserver un petit déjeuner et de nombreux (très bons) restaurants se trouvent à proximité. Il y a aussi de nombreuses activités proposées directement sur place. La gérante, Eileen, est disponible et passionnée par ce qu'elle fait. Je recommande vraiment !!

Beautiful place in an unbeatable location. The outdoor private area has a drip coffee maker (bring your own coffee but filters are provided) microwave, toaster, water kettle and a fridge.
There is a fully stocked bar where you can purchase wine, beer, snacks, etc..
I highly recommend you rent a kayak from the hotel and you paddle out to where the boats are about 20 min straight out, slightly to the left). I have never seems that many sharks and rays in my life - it was ridiculously amazing.
Make sure you reserve a lunch spot at coco beach - you can have them pick you up for 500 pp. make the reservations as early as you can. Most restaurants also require reservations a day ahead of time. Note that most restaurants seem to stop serving food between 2:30 - 6, so plan your lunch accordingly. Grocery stores sell wine. Expect to pay $25-50 per bottle.

This place was SO hard to leave. Stayed here on my honeymoon and it was absolute magic. The people, the outdoor space, the room.... EVERYTHING and everyone was perfect. We were made to feel so special. If you have the chance to stay here DO IT!!!!!!! WE LOVE YOU EILEEN!!!

Le monde d'Eileen qui rend notre séjour inoubliable : luxe calme et déco dépaysante pour cet hôtel caché au bord du lagon où toutes les chambres sont nichées au coeur d'un jardin. Le prêt de kayak permet de découvrir la faune du lagon en particulier les raies et les requins c'est magique ! Quant à la restauration le souci de l'intimité, de l'art de la table et de la gourmandise sont à ne pas manquer.
