HILTON MOOREA LAGOON RESORT & SPA

I’ll start with our first night in the huts over the water! We arrived to find it somewhat clean but very rough and primitive. No extra amenities and a very dated and scruffy styled hut. Nit worth the $1,500.00 a night AT ALL!!!
We then moved to one of the two larger villas with a private patio and pool. Looked amazing on the website, NOT IN PERSON! Again, dated, and many things broken and neglected. refrigerator didn’t work, the pool was very cold, lounge chairs were very uncomfortable and rustic, no pads on the patio furniture at all. basically, unusable!
The roof of the villa was not connected to the villa with a large air gap. All of the outside creatures made their way in side to greet us at the most in opportune times.
Moving on, the service is absolutely horrific! I would say it’s understaffed and not well trained for a five star experience. There was one employee that stood out amongst the rest, and his name was T. If not for him, I would have nothing nice to say about the service at all.
The food, again not worthy of the price. Nothing special and way OVER PRICED. Drinks were terrible and inconsistent. Waited for refills and then got attitude from the servers.
I will not be back and feel like Hilton should reconsider the star rating!
Definitely feel ripped off.
The rooms are a bit dated, with furnishings that differ from those shown online. For example, the sun loungers are simple white-and-blue plastic ones, more “public pool” than “5-star spa resort.” The bathrooms lack basic amenities such as toiletries kits and slippers. Housekeeping is done only once, and if you don’t leave the room at the scheduled time, it won’t be cleaned at all.
On the positive side, breakfast is abundant and delicious. However, the restaurant area, like the rooms, looks far less refined than the photos suggest, with cheap-looking furniture such as plastic chairs and tables, floral table runners of questionable taste, and plastic light fixtures in bright blue and cold white tones.
If you plan to play tennis, bring your own rackets and balls—the ones provided are in poor condition and difficult to use. The gym shower has a broken showerhead.
The highlight is undoubtedly the property’s enviable location facing the sunset, making it perfect for enjoying the last rays of the day. Sadly, despite the stunning setting, the overall structure and services are far from 5-star quality—unlike the prices, which certainly are.
E i teli mare?
Cibo fantastico, colazione abbondante e servizio veloce.
We just got back from a week stay at the Hilton Moorea in an over water bungalow and its one of the best experiences I've ever had in my life. The staff is extremely nice and accommodating. We had a million questions and they answered with a smile every single time. They made our stay feel so luxurious and relaxing. The service isn't super fast...but they are on island time, baby! Chill and relax and just take it in. I would stay here every visit 100%
Alas, this year the service is sub par at the restaurant. It took them 70 minutes to being us a mediocre pizza and a Greek salad.
More importantly, the hotel does not have running water. Yes, no shower and no toilet flush and they lied and said it is a problem in the city. No it is only at our hotel. LIE #1
Update:
After exactly 27 hours of no water, we finally got to enjoy the paradise. Aparantly the service at the restaurant was also impacted by lack of water. Hopefully they will compensate us somehow for the bad experience. I will update my review if necessary.
UPDATE: SEPT 2ND: Contacted Cosco and asked about the credit that manager Tony had mentioned. They contacted the hotel and Hilton manager pretended that nothing had happened and they were unaware of our miserable stay at a pricey hotel. LIE #2
Update: 4th visit :July 2025
Everything was superb. The service, the rooms, the view. This is a paradise on earth. Couldn't be happier. Thank you.
A true 5 star stay.
We came here for our honeymoon, expecting something special. What we got was a total nightmare.
The service is beyond terrible. A sick concierge was literally coughing in front of us with zero professionalism. Since we don’t drink alcohol, they replaced the honeymoon champagne with a carton of supermarket pineapple juice - not even proper glasses. No welcome, no care, no attention to detail.
Nothing was prepared in the room: no toothbrushes, no basic bathroom amenities. The room they gave us had a depressing view of noisy local houses and kids. The terrace never sees daylight, it’s dark and sunless the entire day and the bedroom is filled with Moskitos
I asked to change rooms ,was told it could happen for the last two nights. But no one followed up. I had to chase down three different staff members just to get an unclear answer. Finally, I was sent to a condescending front desk supervisor who, instead of helping, told me to “speak to management if I have complaints.” No apology, no empathy. Just a smug smile and passive attitude.
At this point I’m emotionally drained. We’re spending all our time outside the hotel because the standard is below a 3-star. Even the pontoon is unsafe, random planks were added for their staff vehicles, but it’s dangerous for guests walking across.
The food? Disastrous.
This place is a complete mess. Not a single gesture, not a single person trying to fix anything. Just pure negligence and a lack of care on every level.
This was supposed to be one of the most beautiful weeks of our lives. Instead, it became a stressful, exhausting ordeal
My husband and I spent our honeymoon here and we are booking back for our anniversary but this time for longer because one night was not long enough!
The food at the Creperie was delicious! And the buffet breakfast was way too good!
esigenze turistiche ???? anno 2018
The Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort & Spa is undeniably in a stunning location, and its overwater Creperie offers a unique "eat with the sharks" experience that’s truly memorable. Watching reef sharks and rays glide by beneath you while dining is worth the visit alone, it’s a one of a kind setting!
However, the crepes themselves are overpriced for what you get. While decent, they don’t quite live up to the cost, especially when compared to the incredible (and far cheaper) crepes we had in Tahiti. For just a fraction of the price, we enjoyed thinner, crispier, and more flavorful crepes elsewhere.
Verdict:
Must-visit for the atmosphere & shark viewing a bucket-list experience!
Not the best value for the food, temper your expectations on taste vs. price.
If you’re staying at the resort, it’s still worth trying once for the novelty, but if you’re a crepe connoisseur, you’ll find better (and much more affordable) options elsewhere in French Polynesia. 4.5/5 for the experience, 2/5 for the crepes.
The only reason it gets a 4 star review from me was because the food was not great. The breakfast buffet was actually terrible. The suppers were ok but not wow!
My lunch was good.
But o would highly recommend this vacation spot and would definitely go back.
I read about the pool maintenance in reviews a month or more before we arrived and hoped it would be done before we got there. We received an email 9 days before our stay that the pool would be closed for renovations until 4 days into our 5 day stay. ☹️ This is an amazing looking pool, so that was frustrating. But at least we would get the pool for a day and a half.....right? Nope. On the day it was supposed to open, we asked and they told us another week. ☹️ I'm pretty sure they could have told us sooner, but they did not. They gave us ~$45/day credit and a free boat ride to the Motu everyday if you wanted it since the pool was closed, The Motu was awesome, so that was great, but the $45/day credit doesn't go very far when a large beer is $20. So basically they gave us 2 drinks/day for the 2 of us to share. So 1 drink/day per person. ????
Other than that, our over-water bungalow was beautiful and I didn't feel it needed the updating that others had mentioned. Swimming directly from our personal dock off our bungalow was as amazing as you would imagine. We watched stingrays, blacktip reef sharks, and tons of fish swimming by all the time. (The sharks are not dangerous...they eat small fish, not people.) We will definitely go back sometime, hopefully the pool will be open.
FYI, you can bring 2 liters of alcohol per person in your checked bag flying into Tahiti. ????
