Le Somail bietet bei weitem nicht mehr den Charme, der in Reiseberichten geschildert wird. Die eine Uferhälfte sind nur Schotterstraßen. In diesem heißen Sommer hatte auch nur wenig auf, zu dutzenden warteten die Hausschiffe auf Kunden, die Kurzausflüge fanden nicht statt. Der Parkplatz liegt in glühender Sonne und bietet kein schattiges Plätzchen oder Toiletten.

They were the MOST helpful of any tourist office I have ever used in Europe! The young man (Hakim, I think?) went above and beyond to assist us in obtaining taxis for various excursions. We were on a boat on the Canal du Midi so we needed ground transportation to Narbonne and to the olive oil cooperative. He was just the best. We also had to change the time of a tour, and he was extremely helpful calling the cooperative to make the change. Also, they have an informative film with English subtitles about the Canal du MIDI. I highly recommend utilizing this wonderful resource if you are in the area.
