Best Hotel ever in Lyon, personnel aux petits soins sans chichi. Emplacement juste au top, calme et propre.

2025 UPDATE: Sadly a hotel in decline with multiple issues. Had to change rooms do to a non working air-conditioned, second room a/c started leaking water at midnight all over the desk and our electronics. Little things such as no glasses in the rooms only paper cups, makes it feel more like a two star hotel than the four it claims.
A historic hotel that dates from 1855, with some of the old world charm still found in its décor and architecture. The location is excellent, close to both Old Lyon, Place des Terreaux, the Saone river, and walking distance to many of the sights and restaurants of peninsula Lyon.
The pool complex is--- really for small children, watch your head on stones if you do use it...

We stayed at this hotel for only two nights, we were greeted by the NICEST & KINDEST receptionist Marwane. Also, the hotel lends you umbrellas when it’s raining outside which is so cute.

The pool was honestly great, I don’t understand all the bad comments about it bahahha we loved it.

Breakfast is good, nothing crazy but everything you need for a good continental breakfast :)

Best location ever, we walked to le Vieux Lyon & you’re not so far from shopping centers.

I’d say the only downside about this hotel is that there is no fridge/coffee/water in the rooms.

We very much enjoyed staying at the Grand Hotel Des Terreaux in Lyon. From its convenient location to the spacious rooms, excellent breakfast and great service, our stay was pleasant and comfortable.

Deuxième fois que nous venons dans cet hôtel. Je ne pense pas qu'il y ait meilleur emplacement. Le personnel est professionnel et disponible, les.chambres très agréables

Nous avons été accueilli par une jeune fille hautaine et très antipathique. Par contre ses collègues sont très professionnels.
La chambre est l'équivalent d'une "chambre de bonne" avec une salle de bain ridiculement petite, indignes d'un 4 étoiles (tout comme le papier toilette non conforme aux standards).
La literie est très bien et la climatisation fonctionne, ce sont les seuls points positifs.
Le petit déjeuner n'a rien d'exceptionnel avec des œufs brouillés constitués d'une "pâte" immonde. Par contre les viennoiseries sont fraîches.
Si la minuscule partie "détente" est très photogénique, son accès est acrobatique, l'eau n'est pas à 26°c et le revêtement du fond du bain à remous est mal posé et dangereux à certains endroits qui se décollent. De plus il n'y a aucune douche ! Pour couronner le tout, nous sommes obligés d'enjamber les sacs de linge salle à 16h00 !! Et la femme de chambre se permet de clencher notre porte à plusieurs reprises dans la matinée sans même frapper... Bref, rien ne mérite 4 étoiles dans cet hôtel qui se préoccupe plus de "l'écologie"* (*de ses économies) que de ses clents ! Quel dommage que les étoiles ne soient revalorisées que tous les 5 ans, car cet hôtel peut berner les gens pendant encore 2 ans ! Méfiance...

Individuell eingerichtete Zimmer. Klimaanlage kaum Sicht und hörbar. Tolle Lage. Leider KEIN eigener Hotelparkplatz. Öffentliches Parkhaus 150m entfernt. Ca. 15€ pro Nacht Parkgebühr. Pool und Frühstück kann ich nicht beurteilen.

Personnel au top, hôtel très sympa, une décoration faite avec goût et à l’ancienne. J’ai retrouvé des cheveux dans la salle de bain d’où mon choix de 4* pour la chambre. Pour le reste, literie confortable, piscine très sympa, je recommande ce lieu ????

Purtroppo la posizione centrale ha attirato la mia attenzione mentre sceglievo l'hotel da prenotare per trascorrere un weekend con mio marito e il mio bimbo; ho fatto un grosso errore a scegliere il Grand hotel des terraux, anche perché di grand hotel non ha proprio nulla!!!||Innanzitutto la poca professionalità della reception, antipatici, scorbuticii, per niente disponibili,per niente professionali; |Solo Emilian è risultato gentile e accogliente.|Le ragazze tutte e dico tutte, indisponenti.||Ho avuto purtroppo un problema con il mio bambino, grazie a Dio risolto nel migliore dei modi, ma non ho ricevuto nessuna assistenza oppure un gesto di carineria e comprensione!!!||Passiamo ai servizi: colazione insufficiente per un 4 stelle, un grosso errore che commettono,ripetutamente e volontariamente,è non voler rifornire il buffet, quindi verso le 9,30 c'è pochissima scelta, gliel'ho fatto presente e hanno fatto spallucce.....||Infine, non sia mai dimenticare di appendere sulla maniglia della camera l'apposito cartellino dove riporta"Pulire per favore la camera", perché altrimenti la camera non verrà pulia, proprio come successo a noi.||Insomma una serie di disagi che da un 4 stelle da 320 a notte è INACCETTABILE!!!!!!

Un hôtel de charme parfait pour ceux qui cherchent l'ambiance du Vieux Lyon.|Très bien situé, en plain centre mais sans nuisances sonores.|Excellent petit déjeuner - de vraies dlices à la francaise.|Bassin de détente intriguant dans son architecture - malheuresuement je n'étais pas équipé pour en profiter.|Une équipe très professionelle et serviable à la réception.

Le personnel était très agréable. Par contre, la piscine était très très trouble, mais agréable d’y passer 1h.

Nous avons payé 278€ LA nuit pour une chambre qui faisait à peine 12m2 avait de beaucoup de taches d’humidité dans la salle de bain et le « draps duvet » gratait beaucoup sans parler du bruits atroce de la climatisation. Emplacement superbe mais je trouve beaucoup trop cher pour la qualité de la chambre.

Je vois les photos et je ne comprends pas le gap que j’ai vécu..

We had a great stay. Great location. Rooms were decent enough — only I would agree with over reviews that this isn’t a four star hotel. We had limited interactions with the staff. We didn’t take breakfast. So for us, it was an easy trip with no surprises.

Reception a l'écoute et serviable |Petit déjeuner pas mal|Chambres scent l'humidité |Pas de mini bar même pas une bouilloire pour un hôtel 4 étoiles c'est malheureux. |1 Femme de chambre tres désagréable elle nous as mal parlé elle dit même pas bonjours quand on lui dit bonjour |Elle a crier a la porte le moment ou elle voulait faire le ménage (je lui ai dit qu'ont pouvez partir a 13h elle m'a a bah non cest pas possible!! En mode très énervé.. il faut que je parte moi !!!) alors que la réception nous ait appeler le matin pour nous dire que vous pouvez quitter la chambre a 13h le jour de notre départ .|Elle as mis la musique a fond (provoquation)|On nous as facturé le le surcalssement 2 fois alors qu'on l'a déjà payé le 1er jours de notre séjour en cache et en partant mon conjoint à été facturé 20 euro encore une fois!! |C'est malheureux que sa nous a gâché notre séjour.

A deeply disappointing and unprofessional experience

At 9:00 AM, my wife and I left the hotel briefly to have breakfast at a nearby café. Shortly thereafter, we received a voicemail from the hotel receptionist accusing us of having left without paying our bill. Upon returning to the hotel, we sought clarification, only to have the accusation repeated to our faces.

We reminded the receptionist that check-out was not for another two and a half hours and explained that we had simply gone out for breakfast. Her response was: “You didn’t tell me you were going for breakfast. How was I supposed to know?” When we asked whether she had made similar accusations against other guests that morning, she claimed that all other guests inform her of their whereabouts when leaving the premises—a highly implausible and, we believe, dishonest statement.

When we requested her name, she refused to provide it. Only after repeated inquiries did she give us a name, though we have strong reason to believe this may not be accurate. She also failed to respond when we asked whether she had seen us leave with luggage (we had not) or whether she had checked the room (she had not). Nor did she explain why she made no mention of this supposed concern when we dropped our key at the front desk, as required by the hotel.

In terms of the general quality of the hotel, we can only echo other critical reviews. This establishment does not meet the standards of a four-star hotel. The rooms are small, stuffy, and lacking many of the amenities one would reasonably expect. For example, there was no functioning air conditioning—despite warm temperatures during our stay in late April in southern France. The reception informed us that AC would not be available until summer, a claim contradicted by other guest reviews. It appears the hotel simply removes the remote controls until they see fit to return them.

Overall, this was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had in over 200 stays across Europe. Never before have we been falsely accused of attempting to leave without paying, simply for stepping out for breakfast before check-out.

Nous avons essayé de passer une nuit dans cet hôtel « 4 » étoiles, pensant que nous allons passer une soirée reposante en profitant des plus ( piscine .. )

Effectivement c’est bien une piscine mais qui n’est malheureusement pas très bien chauffée et en plein milieu de la salle de restauration.. pas très chaleureux par rapport aux photos que nous pouvons voir. Nous pouvons croire que c’est chauffé à l’arrivé mais ce n’est qu’illusion ce sont les radiateurs qui donne cet aspect là.
Oui effectivement vous aller me répondre que vous ne vendez pas le fait que ce soit chauffé. Je suis d’accord, mais un bain un remous ( jacuzzi)qui n’est pas un minimum chauffé n’a pas d’intérêt.
N’oublions pas que c’est un 4 étoiles donc nous attendions un minimum de standing par rapport à ce que l’on n’a pas pu voir dans d’autres hôtel
Et niveau sécurité ce n’est vraiment pas ça . Par chance nous sommes jeunes, mais je pense au personne âgés qui ne peuvent pas en profiter a 100%.
Ma conjointe est de petite taille est a réussi à se faire mal avec le plafond qui est bas..

Les chambres
Le côté rustique à son petit charme en effet, mais les traces sur les murs font baisser immédiatement la qualité de la chambre
je suis rester choqué du manque de matériels mis à disposition : pas de cafetière, pas de petit frigo pour que lorsque qu’on arrive nous pouvons trouver des boissons fraîches, pas de télécommande de climatisation ( car oui nous sommes uniquement que mai mais dans la chambre il faisait chaud) Sans parler d’une salle de bain type hôtel 2 étoiles qui malgré, était très bien entretenue.

Par contre, le lit.. cheveux de partout dedans. Traces de rouge à lèvre sur la couette avec une belle trace marrons.. je ne veux pas savoir de quoi cela vient

À savoir nous sommes partis de l’hôtel, nous n’avons pas passé la nuit là bas. Car quand nous avons vue les avis sur la literie, nous nous sommes dit « tiens on vas contrôler de notre côté si des fois les avis ne sont pas tirer par les cheveux… » malheureusement même expérience que certaines personnes

Malgré tout ça nous avons été très bien été accueilli, très bien renseigné. 5 étoiles pour vous madame

Mais nous ne nous sentions pas d’y passer la nuit . Malheureusement nous n’avons pas goûté au petit déjeuner donc je ne peux pas donner mon avis..

Over all our experience in the hotel was good. The rooms were okay in size, the bathroom was also ok in size. The rooms were cleaned regularly and housekeeping was thorough in cleaning.||My main concern was front desk. We decided to stay in for an after and did not put a do not disturb sign in our room. While we were resting we heard someone opening our door. We were surprised and when I opened to check - it was a guy telling me that they were there to get plants. I felt bad for the guy so I allowed him and his assistant to enter to remove the plants from our window. So, what is my problem about this - we were never informed about someone entering our room and doing something. (Mind you they had a posting regarding no water for 4 hours due to maintenance but they could not inform us about this) ||For me, a guest in a hotel should be informed about things like this. I hope management can look into this and improve communications to guests.||I feel bad giving a lower rating because it is a good hotel

This is a wonderful hotel very conveniently placed in between the two rivers. It is one of the quietest hotels I have stayed in. We were in room 304. It is one of the bigger rooms which was great as we were there for a week. It is spotlessly clean . The beds are very comfortable .The staff are wonderful and very helpful . We didn't eat breakfast there as we enjoyed going out to the cafes nearby . Diploid and Fuschia are minutes away. Opposite is a great supermarket where we occasionally bought food to eat in our room. There is no kettle but one is available on request plus cups. We also asked for a couple of plates , knives and forks as there was a fridge and a small table we could eat at . Eating out for every meal is too much for us . I swam every day except one . The pool is not heated . It is very cold but it was not a problem for me but it might be for others if expecting a heated pool . We ate at a bouchon Chez Paul near the corner which was lots of fun . When in Lyon you have to eat at a bouchon. Also nearby by is a patiesserie Chez Gregoire in Rue Constantin which makes THE most amazing gluten free patissieries. Don't be put off by them being gluten free. The taboules are really worth visiting but not easy to find.. You can explore them yourself and don't need to pay ridiculous amount for a guided tour .W asked the hotel receptionists and they gave us the exact addresses but you can google them. They are behind very heavy scruffy doors . There are no signs. 54 Rue St Jean .La Longue Traboule. lt is one. It is behind a scruffy green door. Other interesting places to visit Musee des Beaux Arts . The Museum of Deportation and Resitance . Lugdunum . We also took a trip out to visit the Ideal Palais du Facter Cheval at Hauterives. It is not an easy place to visit by public transport but well |worth a visit. Lovey restaurant next to the palais entrance.

Joli site bien placé |Bâtiment avec une belle façade|La chambre est cosy, avec une isolation phonique correcte|La literie est de qualité ||Petit déjeuner cher, non exceptionnel|Pas de bouilloire dans la chambre |Produits de soin juste corrects |Piscine « chauffée » à 26 degrés, difficilement pratiquable malgré le chauffage de la pièce.|Rapport qualité prix discutable.

Emplacement parfait, accueil courtois, chambre correcte. Les bains étaient tièdes, nous sommes restés 15 minutes alors que nous voulions y passer l’après-midi! La chambre type « Art Deco » mais visiblement les services de nettoyage n’ont pas l’attention du détail que nous avons vu immédiatement en rentrant dans la chambre (voir photo, chambre 303)

L'accueil, le personnel, les chambres, la propreté, l'accessibilité avec une poussette, tout est au top. Dommage que le parking dans le secteur coûte le prix d'un voyage sur la lune. Mais bravo pour votre établissement. Petit dej et piscine très bien aussi

Nous sommes ravis que vous ayez apprécié divers aspects de notre établissement, de l'accueil chaleureux à la propreté impeccable, en passant par notre délicieux petit déjeuner et la piscine.

En ce qui concerne votre remarque concernant le coût du stationnement à Lyon, nous la comprenons parfaitement. Bien que nous ne puissions rien faire face à ces tarifs pouvant en effet rivaliser avec une expédition spatiale nous sommes enchantés que cela n'ait pas éclipsé votre séjour parmi nous.
