HÔTEL VILLA GLANUM ^{* * *}

|First the pros : Location - The hotel is just outside of town, on the road to Les Beaux de Provence. Right next to Glanum Romain ruins and the Van Gogh trails. No matter what they tell you, (« it’s about 10 mins to town») it’s quite a long walk to the center of town. A good 20-30 minutes. (It’s 10 minutes to the beginning of town), you’ll find a Utile superette there, but no patisserie nor a café for a petit déjeuner. It is relatively quiet  but, still early in the season, and we enjoyed the privacy of the patios surrounded with their high hedges. Nice settings to have casse -croutes around the garden, after a day at the marché, with our friends and neighbors. I also want to commend Cecile, the kind receptionist that welcomed us in, and was hospitable and charmante.||The cons : No hotel amenities. Photos on the website depicting quality toiletries in the bathrooms are fake . We got the tiniest medallion of soap on the sink (which was never refreshed) and shampoo and shower gel dispensers in the shower with indeterminate products.  No spa-like amenities of any sort- the bare minimum ! I note here that during a phone call, my wife asked specifically about the provençal toiletries in the photos and was assured that they would be available in the room. A blatant un-truth !  I will commend the housekeeping staff on cleaning. But we did have to ask for soap and toilet paper on several occasions. Had to ask for an iron and ironing board. We’re unpacking out of suitcase for the next 11 days after all. No ice available for the rooms. If you want ice for your drinks, you have to  plead for it and Pascale will lie to you and tell you they don’t have an ice machine, (they have a bar), and she’ll give you the contents of a small ice cube tray, while others who  shall remain nameless went in the kitchen and you could clearly hear them digging ice from a bin and give us full cups of large ice cubes. (Still had to walk to the reception and beg for a cup of ice).| They «nickel & dime» you for everything coffee from the espresso machine 2.50€. I asked if I could dry a tiny load of laundry in the housekeeping dryers. At first Christophe, said yes, once they were  available, but I think Pascale, then overrode him and he then offered to rewash and dry the tiny load for 20€! We, instead drove in town at the laverie and dried our laundry in ten minutes for 2€.|You have to go to the reception to procure poolside towels which you then have to sign out and keep for two or three days until you can exchange them for clean ones. Pascale made a point to let me know that if I was short a towel  I would be charged 20€ for what seemed a well used, somewhat stained, in need of replacement, towel. |Definitely NOT a spa ! They have an indoor hot tub that they charge 35-40€ per hour to access ! The one massage therapist who may have been able to provide some services was on vacation for a part of our stay, and that was that !|The TV is very basic cable,  A dozen local channels, some of them not broadcasting anything but test patterns. Our traveling companions spoke no french at all so they could not benefit from that either. |I’d give that hotel 3 stars at best. ||Just for reference, I am a highly trained professional in the hospitality industry for 45 years. Executive chef in a high-end hotel in Boston. I worked at the intercontinental Paris and Miami. So I’m familiar with how a hotel operates and how hospitality works. |After reading some of the reviews, and especially the often scolding and unprofessional replies from the management of this property,  I  fully expect the management, rather than accepting critiques and applying solutions, to respond with more defensive vitriol.| I certainly won’t be back. I would recommend you consider one of the many villas available in this wonderful region and town. St Rémy de Provence ave and its  surroundings are some of the most beautiful spots in France. ||

Mooi hotel met zwembad en spa, perfect gelegen om het psychiatrisch ziekenhuis te bezoeken waar Vincent van Gogh werd behandeld en de mooie olijfboomgaarden te zien die hij schilderde. Verder 5 mijn wandelen van de oude Romaanse nederzetting Glanum. En last but not least 10 a 15 minuten wandelen van het zeer charmante dorp St Remy.

Hotel sans accueil de réception, sans vie . Il est froid à la réception, pas de bar. Réception qui ferme à 20 heures, du jamais vue. Piscine sans douche. Employé qui balaie la terrasse à 8h30.

Service décevant ! Chambres très bien ! Propre !
