LE PETIT NICE PASSEDAT ^{* * * * *}

Je souhaite signaler que l’ensemble du séjour a été très décevant :

Dès notre arrivée, l’accueil s’est révélé très approximatif : nous avons dû sonner à plusieurs reprises à l’interphone sans réponse, avant d’être contraints d’appeler l’établissement pour qu’on nous ouvre.
Ensuite, à la réception, il n’y a personne pour porter les bagages/ sacs en chambre…

Donc déjà , une impression froide et peu professionnelle pour un 5 étoiles.
Dans la chambre exécutive(Angèle), plusieurs éléments ont malheureusement attirés notre attention ( hélas pas très haut de gamme comme expérience):
– Prise électrique presque arrachée du mur ( potentiellement dangereux..)
– Murs sales avec des traces de doigts
– Cordon d’alimentation jauni et encrassé du fer à repasser qu’on nous apporte.. tellement sale c est hallucinant de ne pas avoir du matériel propre et en bon état pour un hôtel censé être 5 étoiles et qui plus est un relais château…
– Finitions négligées : peinture écaillée, seuil de porte abîmé
- la végétation de la terrasse pas du tout entretenue et remplie de mauvaises herbes, c’est hallucinant..
- pas d’intimité sur l’espace terrasse avec une promiscuité avec les terrasses de voisins ( pas prudent non plus).
– Mobilier extérieur (transats, coussins) encore trempé par la pluie donc même pas protégé par une bâche…
- Pour le petit déjeuner , on ne vous demande pas si vous avez des intolérances ou allergies, on vous apporte ce qui est proposé donc pas de choix, même si on n’aime pas…

Aucune attention n’était portée aux détails.
Ce sont justement les détails qui distinguent un établissement haut de gamme d’un simple lieu d’hébergement… tout est à revoir..

Heads up: we did not get to try the gastronomic restaurant. More about why a little later and the review is absolutely not about it. ||Let’s start with the positive:|- The view from our room was stunning|- The property is great for pictures.|- The food at the bistro was good; not high end but definitely good. ||Now the not so good and bad:|- The checkin was absolutely subpar. For example no explanation about how the property is organised, we truly had the impression we were not welcomed. We witnessed other guests being welcomed as one would expect at a Relais & Chateaux, but not us for whatever reason. |- The room was ok but not luxurious; and definitely on the very small side. The record player is a nice idea but all the records we tried were past usable times. So it ends up being there to pretend being different. |- I contacted the hotel twice to ask for a reservation at the gastronomic restaurant and not once I was told it was a problem; we ended up at the distro, which in itself is ok but when considering the other issues, it is clearly a sign of deep problems at the property. No explanation about why we could not eat at the gastronomic restaurant. |- Service during dinner was average at best. The gluten free bread I asked and was supposed to “come shortly” never ever showed up. Once again a lot of pretending to pay attention to requests. |- Breakfast is an absolute joke and I use “joke” to remain friendly, other terms come to mind: a gentleman basically throw a few items on the table, ie a few viennoiseries, a sad slice of ham and cheese per person and a very basic yogurt. And you better not ask for anything else because if you do (and I did, simply asking if I could get anything else), you are getting attitude and basically explained that it is what you get regardless of what you like. So to say the least, the service was absolutely deplorable. The gluten free bread did show up but was basically similar to a brick with a wet side. Absolutely not eatable. Not consideration for food restrictions whatsoever or even what you would like to eat, you are to enjoy what you are served and above anything else stay quiet. You will get a better experience at a “air d’autoroute”, which is what we ended up doing. ||All in all a deplorable experience. The first bad experience with a Relais & Chateaux and we tried many of them. I actually think this should not be a Relais & Chateaux at all. ||A few additional notes|- most of the staff think it is ok to show up at your table and talk over you and interrupt while we were having a discussion, it is not only bad service but extremely bad education. They could at least wait for us to finish a sentence, but I guess guests do not matter there. It happened 3 times from different staff members in less than half a day. |- no language barrier as French is my native language.|- access is absolutely awful; I understand they cannot do much about it but it is a fact to know |- the morning we left, the area around the pool stunk real bad, we did not try to understand why. |- if you want to venture out by foot, be ready to hold your breath for a while: the streets adjacent to the hotel are absolutely filthy |- you can enjoy the Mediterranean only from the distance if you are not willing to get on the crowded rocks under the hotel|- we asked for a taxi and got one that obviously scammed us. Fortunately I am French and could deal with it. But clearly the hotel calls random taxis.|- they encourage people to eat outside but have no problem whatsoever letting people next to you smoke. A huge issue if you have respiratory issues like asthma and they clearly do not care the least. ||In conclusion, do yourself a favour, drive a little more and go enjoy another Relais & Chateaux that will actually deliver. This one is just a shame.
