I visited this charming local lavender grower on Bastille Day. They were not only open, but also so welcoming and gracious. Their lavender oil extraction process is completely manual, choosing to keep the old charm and tradition instead of switching to more efficient automated processes that yield nearly twice the oil. Our host explained the process from the harvest, to how they parter with local beekeepers to bring the bees to the fields, to the actual distilling process. She answered every question I had, about different varieties, the differences between lavanda and lavandin, etc. I'd recommend visiting this place to anyone who wants a personalized experience, and an opportunity to learn from the growers themselves.
