Hotel is dated - and has probably been for a couple of years. Everything just seems like it needs an upgrade/refurbishment to fully run the standards I expect from a Holiday Inn.
On the night we were there apparently no hot water supply was available - and according to staff it wasn't a one-off but more like a regular thing...and that seems quite unacceptable to me.
Location is kinda sketchy with some really dark and unpleasant alleys running from the hotel to the nearby square - and somewhat noisy from being just on the harborfront.
...and not that a hotel is judged by its guests - but it was still not the best way of waking up that our neighbour was apparently picked up by gendarmerie after a tough night out
in conclusion I'd opt for the ibis Styles just down the road which is similarly priced and seemed much more pleasant when walking by

Kamer rook naar riool , douche werd niet warm en kwam een klein straaltje uit zeker geen 4 sterren hotel uitzicht was wel mooi goeie locatie

Arrivés à midi après 600 km de route, accueil déplorable, aucun sens commercial, hôtel 4 étoiles sans eau chaude depuis quand ? Jusqu'à quand ? Un week-end de 14 juillet !!!

Für einen Zwischenstopp völlig ok.
Wenige Minuten zur Fähre.
Zimmer Standard, sauber und ok.
Frühstück bietet große Auswahl, ähnlich full english breakfast, aber Qualität so lala.
Rührei leider wirklich schlecht.
Empfang sehr freundlich und nett.
Nette Bar, aber leider musste der Service Mitarbeiter sich zwischen Empfang und Bar aufteilen, was zu erheblichen Wartezeiten führte.
Dennoch blieb er freundlich und gelassen.
Für diesen Zweck ( Fähre nach Dover) würde ich es wieder buchen

Easy to find. Free parking just outside, lovely welcome and speedy ,efficient check in. We had a Livy room with a balcony overlooking the harbour and sea.

I can’t see how this is a Holiday Inn, I’ve stayed in far better HI Express. You’ll get what I mean when you get in the lift.
Small reception, no evening meals. Poor room and mine was one of the modernised ones. Parking if free on street parking.
There are plenty of bars and restaurants just around the corner.

Great Location, But Refurbishment Falls Short
We stayed here for a short break near Calais port and while the location is undeniably excellent—just by the town square and minutes from the port—the overall experience was let down by poor design choices and an unfinished-feeling refurbishment.
✅ The Good:
• Very convenient location with decent views of the port from some rooms.
• The bathroom looks smart at first glance, with a stylish rain shower and separate hand shower.
• Room was clean and basics were provided.
❌ The Frustrating:
• The water pressure in the shower was disappointingly low, likely due to an aerator—something I’ve seen before. It ends up feeling like you haven’t properly washed.
• The hairdryer is mounted directly in front of the hand wash dispenser (see photo), making both awkward to use.
• No towel rail for a hand towel.
• Curtains were damaged, with visible holes.
• No instructions on the room phone—not even a label.
• The mini fridge had no shelves or internal light, just an empty box.
• No in-room safe, which I would have expected.
• Lifts are tiny and frequently out of service. The service lift fits only two people and queues built up quickly.
I stayed here around 20 years ago and while it wasn’t luxurious then, it didn’t feel this neglected. It seems the refurbishment has been done on a tight budget—and unfortunately, it shows.

Thank you very much! We were very well looked after by the hotel staff, and we had a great night’s sleep in a comfy bed with delightful pillows, and a very clean room. A baby bed was even brought in for us. Very kind and helpful! Thank you.

Suite à un séjour de notre fille en compétition de GRS sur Calais, nous avons réservé cet hôtel. Nous avons eu un très bon accueil. La chambre était parfaite. Le petit- déjeuner était copieux. Son emplacement est excellent car il est proche du centre- ville et de la plage. Je vous le recommande.

Nice hotel with good enough space for family. Parking is fee around the hotel on Street.

Stayed in a refurbished room, which was pretty standard, with views over the sea.
Check-in smooth, polite and welcoming.
Beds were comfortable.
Breakfast was varied both hot and cold choices available.

Decent but staff really try to speak French to you even though I told them I speak no French. A fair bit of noise at night from the pub/club or something from next door not the best location but it is what it is

We travel around the world and stayed in tones of hotels. And I am afraid to say this is probably one of the worst 4* hotels that I have ever come across! More like a 2*!
The room (206) is old, dirty and in very poor condition. We booked a non-smoking room and could smell someone had smoked in the room previously. The window could be opened fully as the latch had been broken. And we could see lots of cigarette burning marks on the window sills outside. Carpet was filthy. Furnitures were old. Skirting board was scratched and marked. Bathroom has mould and damp marks between tiles. Some tiles were broken. TV was tiny and blurry.
Only one bottle of water in the room when there were two of us. Had to ask for one more at the reception.
Breakfast was very average. Had to ask staff for more milk for the cereals as the container was empty and not refilled.
Only positives are that the Receptionist Ella was very good, and it has good view to the Port.
Hotel is due for a refurb and no way this is a 4* hotel!
