Good location. Light and airy. Lots of seating inside and out.

Four of us visited for a meal late Friday afternoon. As it was a very hot day we chose to sit inside in the shade where there was a breeze. Shortly afterwards the roof canopies were wound back, leaving us sitting in the hot sun, no consideration for us at all. We duly moved to another table, thankful that we’d not started eating. Our food arrived promptly after ordering. Two duck, one steak & one boll. The food was quite nice although not very hot when it arrived at the table. The sauce (honey & sesame) on the duck could have been a bit stronger. We finished our main course & sat for a good 25/30 minutes with empty plates in front of us. A fair few staff passing by but totally ignoring us despite trying to attract their attention. In the end, I had to go to the bar & ask for our plates to be cleared & for the dessert menu. Then the same long wait for someone to come to take our dessert order. It was as if we’d become invisible, quite bizarre. It wasn’t as if they were that busy. Maybe they just don’t like tourists. It was such a shame as we otherwise had enjoyed our meal. We definitely didn’t leave a tip & it’s very rare that we don’t.

Day out to Calais and chose a great place for food. My French is not great, though I tried, so nice to know they have some English too.
