The receptionist was so helpful to organise dinner before our late arrival and even managed to help us with our heavy bags late in the evening before finding us a table a very short notice in hotel's exquisite restaurant. The maitre D Jean-Charles was beyond encyclopaedic. His knowledge of local and French wines generally was professorial. The location was fabulous but be warned if you are driving that the car park is not close! This minor setback is more than made up by the quality of the accomodation and food!

Parking near the hotel is not easy. The steep slippy pathway down the hill was dangerous but once we reached the hotel everything was wonderful. Celine came up to my car and carried down all the luggage. The staff could not have been more friendly and the wonderful dinner we had in the restaurant deserved the Michelin star. Saint Emilion is a charming town and it was so nice to be back there again.

The hotel is stunning; great location. And we had a view of Kings Tower from our room. Check in was a challenge, we had rented a car, the hotel has no parking, and parking is impossible on the streets during weekends. There are not staff to help with the bags, and there is a step path the only way down to the property. The rocks are so slick, and path so step, there are metal hand rails down the middle to hold. Then there are 10' gaps in the railing. Try managing that with 2 40lb bags. While we were checking in, the paramedics were attending a women who had slipped and fallen and cut her head open, it looked quite bad. If you are elderly, or have a disability, I would recommend a different property just for this reason.

There are few staff members, the ones that are there are friendly and attentive, efficient. Our air conditioner remote ran out of batteries and the TV remote was dead too. There was no one at the front desk all day and night Saturday, so new batteries were not available until Sunday evening. It was 90 degrees during the day.

Compared to the other hotels we stayed at in Paris and Bordeaux, the breakfast was a very small selection of breads, cheeses and cold cuts.

The Wi-Fi worked well outside of our room, but would not connect inside our room.

The location is fabulous; among the best restaurants and shops. We had an amazing meal at the hotel restaurant on Friday, but it was closed for dinner on Saturday and Sunday

If we return to Saint Emillion and we ????would. We would find somewhere a bit more practical for us 2 senior citizens to stay at.
