Wir hatten das Glück, eine traumhafte Woche in La Chartreuse du Maine in Cubjac im wunderschönen Périgord zu verbringen. Dieses historische Anwesen ist ein echtes Juwel: liebevoll restauriert, stilvoll eingerichtet und mit viel Charme erhalten. Die Kombination aus authentischem Charakter und modernem Komfort ist einfach perfekt gelungen.
Die Gastgeber waren aufmerksam und hilfsbereit. Man spürt sofort, dass ihnen das Wohl der Gäste am Herzen liegt. Sie gaben uns tolle Empfehlungen zu Märkten, Sehenswürdigkeiten und Restaurants in der Umgebung.
Der Garten ist wunderbar weitläufig, sehr gepflegt und lädt zum Entspannen ein. Morgens beim Frühstück unter alten Bäumen und abends mit einem Glas Wein auf der Terrasse - oder umgekehrt - pure Erholung.
Besonders beeindruckt hat uns die Ruhe und der besondere Zauber des Ortes. Man fühlt sich sofort angekommen und kann wunderbar abschalten.
Für alle, die das echte Périgord erleben und in stilvoller Atmosphäre wohnen möchten, ist La Chartreuse du Maine ein absoluter Geheimtipp.
Wir kommen ganz bestimmt wieder.

We stayed at La Chartreuse du Maine for 9 days in May and it was a great experience. From the minute we arrived we enjoyed the great hospitality of Catherine and Maxence who welcomed us with really nice local produces in the fridge and flowers from the garden.
The apartment itself and the outdoor areas were really nice and their sense of quality and style is everywhere, from the bed linen and towels to the furnitures.
Also the garden and the pool area were amazing.
It was our first visit in the Perigord area but definitely not the last. Maxence was so kind to share all the best insights of places to visit (make sure you borrow his map of the area) and Catherine organized a visit to the local truffle farm and a private cooking lesson which was great fun.
All in all we cannot recommend this place enough. Only downside is that there are no restaurants within walking distance. But the tranquility and atmosphere offsets that :-)

En vacances pour une semaine pour découvrir la Dordogne nous avons été comblés. Le Maine est un endroit merveilleux, aussi beau qu'accueillant. Les hôtes sont amoureux de leur domaine et ont donné de leur amour dans l'aménagement des lieux, tant pour les gîtes que pour la propriété. Tout y est : calme, beauté, confort... et un accueil juste parfait. La Maison de Marc est splendide, très confortable, bien équipée et agréable avec son jardin privé ombragé.
Nous y retournerons, sans aucun doute. merci à Catherine et Maxence pour ce beau séjour.

Wir haben eine wundervolle Urlaubswoche in diesem ehrwürdigen Gebäude verbracht, das eingebettet in einen traumhaft schönen Garten liegt. Schon bei der Ankunft spürt man den besonderen Charme der Örtlichkeit und die Liebe zum Detail, mit der hier alles gepflegt wird.
Der Garten ist ein wahres Paradies: liebevoll angelegt, voller blühender Pflanzen, schattiger Plätze und lauschiger Ecken zum Verweilen. Der schöne Pool lädt zum Erfrischen ein und bietet gleichzeitig eine herrliche Aussicht in die grüne Umgebung.
Wer Ruhe und Erholung sucht, wird hier voll und ganz auf seine Kosten kommen. Es ist wunderbar still, fernab vom Trubel, und man findet hier wirklich die Gelegenheit, die Seele baumeln zu lassen.
Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen und kommen gerne wieder!

Wir haben im Juni dieses Jahres eine traumhafte Woche auf dem Anwesen "La chartreuse du Maine" verbracht. Wir waren 2 Pärchen und die Wohnung "Marc´s House" ist sehr geräumig und stilvoll eingerichtet. Hervorzuheben ist die gut ausgestattete und geräumige Küche. Die eigene Terrasse haben wir sehr genossen. Das gesamte Anwesen wirkt Paradiesisch und kommt gar nicht aus dem Staunen wieviel Blüten, Kräuter und Düfte einem hier begegnen. Der Pool etwas abseits hat einen besonderen Charme und strahlt sehr viel Ruhe aus.
Die Gastgeber Cathérine und Maxence sind sehr herzlich, hilfsbereit und erweisen sich als hervorragende Ratgeber für Unternehmungen und so manchen Tip bei Bedarf.
Bei der persönlichen Verabschiedung am Ende des Urlaubs ist uns folgender Satz von Cathérine in Erinnerung geblieben: " This is our paradise and we want to share".
So haben wir es auch empfunden.

Catherine and Maxence set the bar high with their beautiful home and hospitality. A week prior to arriving, they’d sent a long list of suggested restaurants, activities, and info of the area, which was very helpful for us. They both met us upon arrival, showed us around our unit (Which included a few specialty snacks and water from the region — so sweet!), and then gave us a tour of the grounds — pool, walking, trails, gardens, etc. Their love and deep pride of their beautiful estate and area is very evident, and they take exceptional care in sharing that with their guests!

Maxence Gave my husband several maps and guides with highlighted routes and activities, and was very thoughtful and including ideas for activities that our kids would enjoy. We took them up on several ideas and they were all wonderful! There was also a little chalkboard in the kitchen with all the regional markets listed with the day of the week and village… such a thoughtful touch!

Comfy beds, a beautiful bathroom and well-stocked kitchen, a lovely private garden behind the house, parking on-site, a refreshing and quiet pool, a yummy boulangerie 0.5 mi away, and attentive and thoughtful hosts — a perfect stay!!

C'est une très jolie demeure maintenue en l'état pour accueillir les hôtes. Le site est également très charmant et bien entretenu.
Nous avons eu un accueil chaleureux des propriétaires avec lesquels nous pu nous entretenir longuement. Tout est pensé et réfléchi pour un séjour enchanteur.

One of the most beautiful staying ever! My partner and I have stayed one week at La Maine ( we decided to extend one more night too ) because we really enjoyed it!
Lovely atmosphere, well equipped kitchen and in general a very warm place full of original decor.

Une maison comme on en rêve avec une décoration ultra raffinée et unique . Une vraie maison de famille ultra équipée. Il y fait bien chaud même en plein hiver, on s’y sent tout de suite bien. On peut y cuisiner facilement, profiter du jardin, lire au coin du feu. La maison de vacances juste parfaite avec en prime un charme fou . Bravo aux hôtes tout à fait charmants et à leur sens aigu du raffinement !

Nous avons passé quatre jours magiques à La Chartreuse du Maine. La maison est extrêmement confortable, offrant un cadre paisible et authentique. Les hôtes (Maxence & Catherine) sont adorables et très accueillants, prodiguant d’excellents conseils pour découvrir la région. Notre séjour a été fantastique du début à la fin. Je recommande chaudement cet endroit à tous ceux qui cherchent une escapade mémorable.

C était notre troisième séjour au Maine chez Catherine et Maxence.
Nous avions loué la maison de Colette et Mimi , gite spacieux avec une belle terrasse fleurie. A l intérieur du gite, une déco savamment choisie , superbe !
Le Maine est un lieu propice au calme , à la détente , parfait pour se ressourcer.
J ajouterai un petit mot pour nos hotes toujours aux petits soins pour leurs invités , leur prodiguant des conseils de visites pour leur faire découvrir leur magnifique région...
Vous l aurez compris, nous reviendrons avec plaisir au Maine et recommandons vivement ce bel endroit.

Superbe endroit, prés des villes et villages de charme et des beaux marchés de la région. Accueil très chaleureux, Catherine et Maxence son très attentifs et aimables, nous sommes heureux de les avoir rencontrés. Nous revenons, tellement c'est bien. La foret dans le domaine est un atout, on peut ouvrir la porte et commencer à marcher. Nous n'avons pas essayé la piscine puisqu'à présent nous sommes toujours allés en hiver, l'endroit est magique à cette moment de l'année.
La maison d'Alice est confortable et meublée avec gout. Idéal pour 2. Nous avons beaucoup aimée notre séjour. A répéter

Suite à un incident avec le logiciel de réservation, nous n'avions pas de gîte alloué alors même que nous étions en route pour le domaine. Peu importe, Catherine et Maxence, nous ont accueilli à bras ouvert et ont tout mis en oeuvre, en très peu de temps, pour que nous puissions nous sentir comme chez nous. Cette parenthèse périgourdine nous a ressourcé. Une mention très spéciale pour ce havre de paix qu'est votre forêt. Merci à vous, Margaux et Gauthier.

Das Périgord ist nicht nur das kulinarische Herz Frankreichs mit sehr gutem Essen, tollem Wein und der Heimat von Trüffel und Fois Gras, sondern auch eine ganz besondere Region, wo man den vor mehreren 1000 Jahren dort lebenden, ersten modernen Mensch gefunden hat, welcher einzigartige Höhlenmalereien hinterlassen hat, und wo England und Frankreich sich gegenseitig die Burgfestungen an der Dordogne abgejagt haben. Immer im Kampf um die Vorherrschaft (und die wunderschöne Eleonore von Aquitanien.)

Und wenn man genau mitten drin im Herzen des Périgord, nicht weit von Périgieux wohnen möchte, zudem noch in einer alt-ehrwürdigen Chartreuse mit Ruhe, riesiger Parkanlage und einem modernen Swimmingpool, in einer der 3 äußerst liebevoll eingerichteten Ferienunterkünften, beherbergt von den charmantesten Gastgebern, die man nur finden kann, (und die auch 4-Beiner lieben), dann ist man bei Catherine et Mexence in ihrer Chartreuse am allerbesten aufgehoben!

Besser geht’s nicht!

Stayed 5 nights at La Chartreuse du Maine in Alice's Kitchen. Beautiful accommodation near the quaint village of Cubjac. Catherine and Maxence were wonderful hosts who shared details of the region and recommendations on where to visit. A lovely base to explore the Dordogne. Accommodation had everything you could need, very comfortable and the gardens were peaceful and relaxing. Would love to return one day!

Tout simplement magique et génial ! Une maison romantique dans un parc magnifique.
La décoration est très soignée et de très bon goût.
L'équipement de la cuisine et de la salle de bain est parfait.
Le grand bassin dans le parc à l'orée de la forêt était encore utilisable fin septembre et toujours propre et bien entretenu.
L'accès direct à un chemin dans la forêt était fantastique et je l'utilisais tous les jours pour ma promenade matinale.
Le couple de propriétaires, très sympathique, discret mais toujours disponible, a pu nous donner quelques conseils intéressants pour des excursions et des visites dans les environs.
Une expérience de vacances au top que je renouvellerai volontiers et que je peux recommander en tous points.

Nous y avons passé de superbes vacances.
Le logement, la piscine, le domaine et le calme, tout était parfait ????

La Chartreuse du Maine est un site enchanteur.

Niché au coeur d'un superbe domaine de plusieurs hectares, les 3 gîtes, entièrement rénovés avec goût, à la fois contemporains et authentiques, sont très bien équipés et offrent tout le confort moderne.

Chaque gîte ayant son propre jardin, ils sont indépendants les uns des autres, ce qui permet de ne pas souffrir de promiscuité avec ses voisins.

Une superbe piscine, un peu à l'écart, au calme en bordure de forêt, permet de se rafraîchir et nager longuement.

Catherine et Maxence sont des hôtes exceptionnels. Ils vous accueillent chaleureusement et se rendent disponibles pour vous aider dès que vous avez une question ou souhaitez des conseils pour visiter cette superbe région chargée d'histoire.

Cette merveilleuse semaine passée au mois d'août m'a donné l'envie de revenir au domaine une prochaine fois à l'automne ou au printemps pour jouir de l'endroit à une différente saison.

La Chartreuse du Maine is a wonderful experience... relaxing, calm and chic. We stayed in Marc's Maison... a typically French, rustic cottage with all modern facilities... incredibly clean and beautifully decorated. The private gardens at front and rear are so tranquil, surrounded by mature woodland and shade. So peaceful.
Catherine & Maxence are the friendliest of hosts... chatty and welcoming. Take a walk through their own working garden... the field of lavender with its butterflies, bees and perfume. Have a chat to Iris the collie (who loves BBQs...!).

This quote on La Chartreuse du Maine’s website says it all! A stay at the lovely gîtes of Catherine and Maxence’s family estate is like magic. We did not want to leave and we can’t wait to return!

The many kindnesses of our hosts, Catherine and Maxence led the way for a nourishing, relaxing holiday in the beauty they have created in du Maine. During our 10-day stay, we settled into life in country France.

The accommodations were superb, both homey and refined, including some antique treasures from their travels. We enjoyed graceful mornings and some evening meals cooked at home in their well-equipped kitchen. Sleeping on freshly ironed sheets in the comfortable beds was a delight and we enjoyed waking to the sound of birdsong.

The village of Cubjac is centrally located with delicious local restaurants, a boulangère, farmer’s market and beautiful drives through the countryside to many interesting sites. Maxence offered us maps, brochures and a list of recommended destinations that supported our explorations of the Périgord region. So much to see, balanced with resting on the lounge chairs reading and napping.

The care of the property with its lush, green gardens, surrounding forest and lovely cottages is exemplary of the commitment and love Catherine and Maxence have devoted themselves to for 25 years at Du Maine. If you are fortunate enough to find La Chartreuse, as we were, you will experience “La douceur de vivre en Périgord” “The sweetness of life in Périgord, France!”

We really enjoyed our stay with our family. The accommodation is lovingly maintained and was ideal for us. The cottage is on a well-kept estate and we were allowed to stroll through and explore the whole garden. The neighbouring forest and the pool are wonderful and invite you to linger.
The hosts are very obliging and helpful.
