Très bonne cuisine raffinée et avec des produits locaux. Plats bien présentés. Un menu le samedi midi entrée plat et dessert à 32€ au top ! Accueil agréable. Terrasse plage au bord de l’eau très appréciable. Réservation vivement conseillée.

I can't comment on the food as I wasn't given a chance to order! But I'll leave a review because the arrogant presumptive staff really upset me.
There is a beautiful spring evening sunset, and Chez Max has a little sandy area with seating called "la plage", which overlooks the river. I had just driven 5 hours from St Malo with my dog, so we needed some refreshment.
I went in and asked for a glass of wine, being near the famous vineyards of Chablis. I was seated, menus were brought over, and I was offered a bowl of water for my dog. I said yes, had a cigarette, and after 5 mins of waiting thought I'd speed things up a bit and went in with my initial order of a glass of Chablis 1er Cru.
I went back to la plage to wait, before another staff member comes outside to inform me that it is not a bar, but a restaurant. Even though I had seen they sell Chablis 1er Cru by the glass on the menu, it was not available to me, because they are a restaurant and not a bar.
Well, I hadn't returned the menus when I went in with my order because I thought I would peruse them and choose what to eat while I enjoyed a glass of Chablis.
Unfortunately, for them and myself, the rude and arrogant waitress (probably the manager of the place), meant my dog and I left thirsty, and hungry too.
I won't go back to try their food, and leave this 1* review (which is a first for me) because it is literally the rudest service I have ever experienced!

Le foie gras était très bon et ainsi que les plats principaux.
Un petit bémol : les courgettes rôties accompagnants le bar n’étaient pas suffisamment cuites, la patronne a remarqué qu’elles étaient restées sur le bord de l’assiette, alors que nous n’avions fait aucune remarque, et du coup a eu un geste très agréable en nous offrant les cafés à la fin du repas pour compenser.
En résumé, un restaurant de qualité sur les quais de l’Yonne que nous recommandons.
