CHUINI ZANZIBAR LODGE

Incredible place with amazing food & lovely staff!! Loved our stay at Chuini!! Hats off to the team

Poor location, Beach is rocks and dirty, food non existent - no options, swimming pool under renovation - why not mention this when we are booking.

We stayed at Chuini as our last stay here after spending nearly two weeks in zanzibar. On arrival at 2pm, our room was not ready. We waited just over half an hour for this. We headed out and came back late evening and noticed dirty duvet, bedsheets, pillows, towels, live and dead bugs all over the room. Unclean surfaces and mosquito net with rips which did not even cover the bed properly. We understand lodges cannot control amount of bugs, but there was even bugs in the tray where we were suppose to drink water and tea from. We stayed in a few lodges in Zanzibar with no issues. The wifi did not work at all either and the room was so far out that our data was not connecting too. As it was late, i decided to let the team know so it can be sorted the next day. The following day we was given a new room. The new room was nice, but still unclean sheets and no wifi connecting on either phones. Then, there was a very strong drain blockage smell in the room. As this room connected to the bathroom, we could smell this in the bedroom. We wasn’t feeling well at the time, and the smell made it worse. I let the team know again - who came over and said it is bad and they will give us another room right away. Being provided 3 rooms - all came with the same issues. The third room was ok - but still no wifi working, unclean pillows/sheets, but we decided to stay as we had 1 night left. The drinking glasses again, had loads of bugs crawling inside the glass and around. We couldn’t drink the water provided. The only good thing here is the staff were very helpful and accommodating - as was everyone we met who work and live in zanzibar. The staff helped us a lot when we felt unwell. Lodge roofs are not properly sealed hence all the bugs inside - as mentioned our previous lodges were perfectly fine. However, the manager definitely needs to put more money into housekeeping services and not cheap out on cleaning the lodges properly when guests are paying a lot of money per night to be here.
We agreed on some compensation with the manager but it didn’t seem like he was surprised with what I stated and was a little defensive with certain things I said. The worst part was that it was no where near worth the money at all. Very gutted to end my trip here.

Le séjour se passait bien jusqu’à l’escroquerie du dernier jour.
L’attitude est décevante quand il s’agit de nous sous tirer de l’argent pour tout et n’importe quoi. Une bouteille cassée accidentellement = 10$, nous avons eu l’honnêteté de remonter l’information mais avec regret finalement. C’est à se demander si dire la vérité est un réflexe à avoir ici.

A part ce point et la nourriture qui n’est pas top. les chambres sont magnifiques. L’emplacement est loin de tout. Parfait pour se ressourcer et profiter de l’hôtel. Massage des pieds gratuit de 10 min

Excellent service, wonderful staff. It’s a Gem one of my now favorite place to go and relax. I will see you soon!
