HOTEL HIMÀLAIA SOLDEU ^{* * * *}

Clean hotel, good food and good drinks, friendly staff.
There is also a magician in the lobby, Jorge. He really surprised us with his amazing tricks. Very enjoyable!

Rustig en gezellig hotel. Geen drukke toestanden, heel lekker en gevarieerd ontbijt en buffet. Vriendelijke bediening. Leuke bar. Op 120m wandelafstand van de ski-liften. En als toemaatje, gratis groente-/fruit dorstlesser in de lobby..

Friendly staff and great location

We have just returned from a fantastic week skiing in Soldeu.

We arrived at around 2am.
Check in at the Himalaia was fast and friendly. We were staying in the 3rd floor looking at fat alberts bar. There was food left in our room on arrival, wraps, crisps, drinks etc which was a nice touch after a long journey. There was a mini bar and coffee machine in the room which I used for beer, cans of pop, water, coffee all week. The bill at the end was £17 which I found very reasonable.

We stayed half board and couldn't fault the food or service. There was plenty of choice at the buffet and always something fresh being cooked on the hot plate. During our stay we had fresh omelettes, bacon, wraps, fried eggs, sushi, shrimps, stew, chicken, ribs, beef, salad, deserts. I've forgotten many but there really was lots of choice. There staff were all friendly and helpful. Our room was cleaned daily to a good standard. The only exception was that the smaller pillows smelled of cigarette smoke either from not being changed or someone smoking where they were kept. We simply removed them from the bed and feel it was a small issue given all the good things about the Himalaia.

There are ski lockers in the basement which are not heated. You need your own small padlock or reception will loan you one for a 10 euro deposit. There is a relatively steep ramp out of the basement and around a 150m walk uphill to get to the gondola station. You can alternatively store your equipment at the gondola station but it was around £20 per night.

Where we were located at the rear of the property was pretty noisy until around 4am due to the always being a band on at fat Albert's. It didn't bother us too much as we enjoyed the music.

I would definitely stay here again.

Só a simpatia de todos os funcionários faz esbater a chocante atitude de um único funcionário da cozinha que, com uma farda diferenciada (de negro), protagonizou uma atitude hostil para com 7 clientes que, cerca das 21:20h, procuravam jantar, sabendo que o horário para o efeito se estendia até às 22h. Começou por questionar (quando perguntado se iriam repor focaccia) se o que estava no buffet não era suficiente. Acabou por repor a focaccia de forma muito antipática e logo começou a retirar bruscamente todas as legendas dos pratos expostos, fixando frequente e agressivamente o olhar na mesa das 7 pessoas que jantavam. Logo a seguir iniciou a recolha da comida (cerca de 15 minutos antes da hora), fazendo-o de uma forma extremamente (chocantemente mesmo) ruidosa com as louças, incomodando os clientes com tanto barulho mas também com tamanha agressividade de expressão facial. Foi até necessário ir rapidamente servir batatas fritas quantes que simpaticamente tinham sido acabadas de fritar para as 7 pessoas, não dando tempo a que todos o fizessem já que, logo após uma pessoa se servir, esse indivíduo de imediato as atirou para o lixo, ainda quentes e antes das 22h.
Enfim! Algo que, repete-se, só a assinalável simpatia dos restantes trabalhadores permite equacionar continuar a repetir o Hotel Himalaya Soldeu para as habituais férias na neve.
