KUNIE SCUBA CENTER

It’s hard not like Pierre Emmanuel and he has an excellent dive center with well maintained or even new dive equipment. (Including 7 MM suits with hoods and shorties you can wear on top if you feel the cold). It’s very clean (even showers and toilet) with rinse bins neatly organized and soapy water for wetsuits.

His RIB boat is fast and comfortable too especially if you are only three diving as we were.

I did two dives and they suffered from poor viz, which aren’t the operator’s fault. To remedy this he took us out to one of the furthest sites where we were rewarded with gorgonian fan corals and decent viz plus two white tip sharks. The hard coral, however, has been hammered by cyclones from a few years ago and is still showing the effects. Plus the water temperature is increasing. It was 26C rather than the normal 23C it should have been for end of May.

The second dive was closer to the dive center and suffered from poor viz and sandy conditions. We were searching for leopard sharks but saw only a few small rays and a large Napoleon Wrasse.

The problem with this dive center is the admin is very poor. Trying to arrange a dive is a mission. The Japanese website is still working but his Japanese wife doesn’t manage it because there are no more Japanese visitors since Covid. The English and French sites were pirated and he hasn’t replaced them. I sent numerous emails (in French) over two months and received no response. I also tried calling to no effect. Upon arrival on the island, I was told he only answers the phone between 5-6 PM!

The cost is 17,500 XPF and includes free pick up at your accommodation. He no longer accepts credit cards.

He showed up an hour late to pick us up but didn’t call to let us know he was running late. Our hotel had to call twice to find out if the dive was still on (his captain didn’t show up).

Overall my rating is a 5 for the dive center and 1 for admin. and customer service mindedness.

Un grand merci à Kunie Scuba Center et à Pierre-Emmanuel pour ces plongées magnifiques que j’ai pu faire presque chaque semaine pendant 3 mois. La vie marine est vraiment impressionnante : j’ai pu voir un requin léopard, plein de nudibranches,...

Il y a une belle variété de spots, le matériel est de grande qualité, et l’ambiance sur le bateau est toujours au top. Le contact se fait facilement via WhatsApp.

La gentillesse de Pierre-Emmanuel, du bon matériel, un lieu d'exception, voilà un super combo ! Encore merci +++

Je suis N3 et je viens de faire 8 plongées avec le club de kunie.
Les plongées sont incroyables, coraux, vie marine (requin gris, léopard, raies, napoleon, barracuda, tortues, lime électrique, langouste etc….), bref en un mot certainement parmi les plus belles plongées depuis que je plonge en 1995.
Très bon accueil de Pierre et de toute l’équipe du club (Narcisse et Antoine), le bateau est très confortable avec pour l’intervalle de surface dans la baie de Gadji avec de magnifiques cake à la banane fait maison.
J’ai loué mon équipement, c’est de l’aqualung en parfait état.
À découvrir ces sites encore préservés et plein d’autres activités magiques sur l’île des pins.

Premier baptême avec ma copine et superbe expérience (visibilité exceptionnelle, requins léopard, pointes blanche et gris)! Pierre Emmanuel accompagné de sa famille fait passer un super moment ! À faire si vous êtes de passage sur l'île des Pins ????
