After traveling for well over 20hours we arrived at Maison Taina at the crack of dawn. We knew we couldn’t check in until later in the morning, but Valerie allowed us to change and leave our luggage behind while my daughter and I explored the island. Upon our arrival the room was spacious, nicely laid out and had air conditioning! The next morning we were treated to a delightful breakfast of scrambled eggs ( so good that eventually I asked to see how Valerie made them!????) fresh fruit and homemade croissants and bread! The view from the table was just beautiful! Each morning Valerie would help me with recommendations and places to visit/eat during our stay. Each time her recommendations were on point! She even helped us with making excursions for our next stop in Moorea. Her attentiveness and sweet nature made our stay so pleasant. I highly recommend Maison Taina if you want to scape the bustle of downtown Tahiti and enjoy the feeling of being at home away from home. Thank you Laurent and Valerie for making our stay so memorable.

Months later we still have no refund despite the emails I still have stating they would. By the time I realized they had not followed through, it was too late to put the charge in dispute with my credit card company. I'd never stay here. The contact person was Valerie.

For our 30th Wedding Anniversary, my wife & I planned to stay here for 2 nights, after the long trip from Florida, USA. However, Heide came very ill, and I cancelled our reservation about 45 days before the trip, well within the allowable time frame. While my wife is going better, this "hotel" fails miserably on fairness and following good business etiquette. ||||Its February, 2025; this "business" HAS NOT REFUNDED OUR DEPOSIT BACK! I have emailed dozens of time, and called directly to the hotel. Last contact was about a month ago, when a lady said she would take care of it that day. Total lies. My suggestion is: proceed with caution. Make sure you are definitely going, and maybe get trip insurance, so this does not happen to you.

The property is very nice, but he owners make it special. We got in late and they had stayed up to welcome us after midnight. They had multiple recommendations for places to go, things to see and places to eat. On our next to last day, we thought we might like to go on a last minute snorkel trip. Valerie called up the best boat company on Moorea and they made space for us to go for a day trip. The trip was the highlite of our trip and Valerie made it possible. Could not ask for a better place to stay.

We had such a wonderful stay at Maison Trina. Valerie and Laurent made us feel like we were visiting dear friends or family and received us with warmth. The delicious and fresh breakfast every morning was such a special way to start our day. We were able to meet like-minded travelers at breakfast and shared tips and recommendations. Valerie and Laurent provided better tips and service than most 5 star hotels. And if the service weren't already excellent, the accommodations were superb. The rooms are spotlessly clean, towels nice, and decor tasteful. We used the well-stocked communal kitchen to store leftovers and prepare dinners. I wish Valerie and Laurent had other properties other places in the world so we could stay with them and even visit them. But we will definitely be back to stay next time we are in Papeete/Arue. The value is also very good. Merci!

We had a wonderful 4-night stay at the charming Maison Taina, which is run by the best hosts ever, Valerie and Laurent. The hillside location offers breath-taking views of the ocean and a country quiet (roosters included!) far removed from city traffic. Each morning we enjoyed a complimentary breakfast of eggs, croissants, fresh fruit, juice and coffee. Our 2nd-story room was lovely, with A/C, reliable WiFi, updated bath, comfortable bed, and a balcony to relax and enjoy the view. The room was only accessible by stairs, but Laurant helped bring up our bags. A car is necessary (taxis are outrageously expensive) and Valerie provides excellent sightseeing and dining information. We were made to feel so welcome it was like staying with friends.

Notre séjour de 3 nuits à la Maison Taina suite à la dernière étape de notre voyage de 4 semaines en Polynésie française a permis de terminer notre périple en beauté. My wife and I stayed two nights at Maison Taina for a stopover on Tahiti before continuing on to Bora Bora for our honeymoon. We had originally planned to stay at a budget hotel in Papeete, but made the switch to Maison Tania after reading many positive reviews, and we would like to echo all of the positive comments made by other reviewers. ||We rented a car at the airport to explore the island, and it wasn't too difficult to find the location, even in the dark after a 9 hour flight. Both Google and Apple maps provided accurate directions to the address. We were met by hosts Valerie and Laurent as we pulled in, and they welcomed us as you would invite someone into your own home, not simply as a guest checking in to a hotel. We found the house itself to be very well kept and comfortable. Our room was one of the upstairs rooms, with a sliding glass door (with blackout curtains) that opens on to the veranda with a view down to the ocean. Although some sounds carried from other parts of the house, our room offered good privacy considering you are staying in a house rather than a hotel room. ||You can expect to hear roosters in the morning, but the roosters are everywhere on Tahiti so this would be no different than any other house on the island. Breakfast is served on a tranquil open air patio; there was a good selection of breads, jams, fresh fruit, and eggs cooked to order. As we only had one full day on Tahiti, Valerie took the time at breakfast to open up a map of the island and suggest a full day driving itinerary to see all the major sights, including restaurants and a sunset spot.||Although our stay here was brief, it was a beautiful introduction to Tahiti and French Polynesia, and it is a good alternative to the big hotel/resort experience to those wanting a guesthouse or bed and breakfast type stay. We would happily stay here again when returning to Tahiti.

Nous avons passé 2 nuits à Maison Taina et nous avons passé un super moment ! Les hôtes sont adorables et de très bon conseils. La guesthouse est très bien située. Chambre très confortable. Nous avions loué une voiture pour la journée et avons pu bien visiter Tahiti.

Incredible stay! The hosts were beyond accommodating and gave great local recommendations (plus cooked a delicious breakfast!) This beautiful property is situated nicely up a hill above the bustle below. I'd rather stay here than at any resort. Book a rental car, stay here, and explore the incredible island!

Wow! There is a reason for 5 stars. The stay was wonderful, the rooms and house are very well decorated, there is a nice pool and AC and the grounds are beautiful with so many flowers. But the best part are the owners of the home… Valarie is very nice, conversational, and has so much knowledge of French Polynesia with great recommendations, and the food! Wow, dinners were Michelin-star quality! Tom is a fantastic chef; If you get dinner anywhere else, you will be missing out on the best meal of your trip! Highly recommend Maison Taina.

Maison magnifique avec une très belle décoration sur les hauteurs d'Arue. Grande chambre, lit très confortable, magnifique salle de bains, espaces de rangements. Cadre parfait. Par contre, éloigné des commerces et restaurants, véhicule obligatoire et en bon état pour grimper la côte !

Cosa dire, tutto perfetto! siamo stati loro ospiti per due settimane, abbiamo deciso di fare un viaggio di nozze diverso con stanza fissa a Tahiti da Maison Taina e da li ci siamo spostati nelle varie isole, l'accoglienza è stata impeccabile, Laurent è venuto personalmente a prenderci all'aereoporto e per tutta la vacanza i proprietari sono stati deliziosi, la camera a noi assegnata, grande, pulitissima e la vista della mattina sull'oceano da sogno.Per non parlare della cucina di Tom il figlio... una sera abbiamo deciso di mangiare con loro e oltre la compagnia deliziosa (noi non parliamo francese e loro poco Italiano) è stata una cena molto divertente cordiale e con ottimo cibo. quindi posso solo dire grazie Valèrie, Laurent e Tom, ci siamo sentiti a casa, ci vedremo al nostro ritorno per vedere le Balene

This lovely guesthouse is run by the adorable Valérie, together with husband Laurent and son Tom, a talented cook (although I think that reviewers comparing his dishes to Michelin-starred quality are slightly exaggerating). The three of them are always available to give you great advice to make the most out of your trip to Tahiti. ||We stayed for two nights prior to a cruise and enjoyed the place so much that, after the cruise, we came back for a day-room as we had a very late flight. A smallish pool and a few deckchairs come in handy if you just want to relax after a long flight.||The very nicely furnished rooms come with an efficient air conditioning, something most visitors will need as the weather in Tahiti is not only hot, but also very humid. The beds are excellent (isn’t that almost the most important thing in a hotel?) .||The location in a somewhat remote, but fairly quiet neighbourhood (notwithstanding some night-active roosters used in Tahiti to get rid of the millipedes!) implies that you will either have to rent a car or to rely on a taxi. The latter is not a bad option. Especially if you want to do some sightseeing, Valérie will certainly recommend a guy who can tell more about Polynesia as many professional guides could!

We have traveled to 120 countries and stayed at hundreds of hotels, guest houses, and Airbnbs, and this was easily one of the best. The place is beautiful and just 15 minutes north of downtown Papeete, just far enough to be away from the morning traffic. Laurent and Valerie are amazing hosts, getting everyone to tell their wonderful stories. And the meal prepared by Tom, which costs about $50, is truly Michelin-star quality. The place has a beautiful view, and you should get one of the rooms that has a balcony if you can afford it. It's a little hard to find: When Google Maps says, "You have Arrived", back up a bit, and you'll see three driveways to the right. The middle driveway goes up to Maison Taina. Be sure to get a bit of a running start. I almost burned out the clutch of our Peugeot 108 trying to get up the last few feet of the driveway. |The home has a beautiful pool and hot tub (which we never used as Valerie gave us many great suggestions on things to do during our 3-day stay).|The room was beautiful, with a large bathroom, a strong shower, and great AC. |Valerie and Laurent moved from France four years ago and finished remodeling their spotless guest house only a year ago, so everything is new. |Breakfast has eggs cooked to order, and bread is as good as any patisserie in France. |There is covered parking on-site, and a rental car (not expensive - we paid about $60/day, including gas and miles from Hertz right at the airport) is a good idea. |Great AC was a plus as it was 84 degrees and 100% humidity every day in summer, but three are cool breezes, as you are 1/3 the way up the mountain at this place. |There are almost no negatives. It would have been nice to have shampoo and conditioner, more hooks, more drawers, a desk, and some towel bars, but these are minor quibbles in this otherwise perfect hotel. 10/10. Not to be missed.

Our 2 day stay at Maison Taina was the last stop on a 2 and a half week trip to French Polynesia. It is well located, beyond the traffic of Papeete but still nearby. |Our room was large, beautiful and clean. Valérie, Laurent and Tom were very accommodating hosts. We enjoyed visiting with them over dinner and wine. We always prefer authentic travel experiences over staying in resorts, so this was a perfect place for us. We were grateful to find that some English was spoken. Despite my attempt to learn some basic French it didn't buy us much on this trip. We enjoyed one of Tom's meals and would highly recommend dining in at least once. Heads up: if you're not much of a meat eater, let them know in advance. Highly recommended. You will like this place.
