I had the pleasure to enjoy a breakfast at the Carl Gustaf, and it was so nice I came back the day after with my mother.
The food is amazing, great variety, but not too much so you don't get lost making a choice.

Easily the best view you will get of Gustavia.
Great atmosphere, beautifully managed.

The crew superb, very attentive, professional, and friendly.

This is a must do if you're in Saint Barth.

Délicieux repas au beefbar, croque sando ,tacos crabe royal, cordon bleu et pizza à la truffe : très raffinés et équilibrés dans les saveurs . les serveurs se.plient en 4 pour répondre à nos désirs . Un grand merci à Paul et Maxime pour leur professionnalisme !!!

Spent 3 nights recently and realised afterwards we should’ve spent our entire trip here. ||Staff are really professional and on point. |Airport transfers, pick up at night after dinner from Le Cafe, housekeeping, concierge and reception. All staff were very personable and detail orientated. ||Breakfast with a view was sublime. ||It’s great to have access to Shell beach. ||Hotel is in Gustavia so close to shops and restaurants. Very walkable in flats lol. You’ll get your steps in easy! ||Loved our short time here. |Highly recommend and hope to return.

Nous sommes venu pour prendre un apéritif avec nos enfants et voir le coucher du soleil sur la mer, mais à notre arrivée une hôtesse fort désagréable nous dit ne pas avoir de place alors que le restaurant semble vide. J’insiste et elle fini péniblement par me proposer une table à l’intérieur, loin de la vue mais bon on prends. Et là on entends l’hôtesse grogner et parler mal de nous à ses collègues en disant « j’aurai du lui dire qu il n’y avait pas du tout de table! »|Franchement mais quel accueil épouvantable et honteux alors que nous venions précédemment prendre nos petits déjeuner avec tant de plaisir dans cet endroit majestueux… la c’était une douche froide que nous avons prise. |Pour couronner le tout, les tables devant la vue au premier rang sont restées inoccupées tout Leblond de notre apéritif ! En résumé l’hôtesse donne les tables à la tête du client! |Un scandal.

We stayed at Le Carl Gustaf in April 2024, and it was truly a magical escape. The hotel overlooks the bay of Gustavia with breathtaking views, a peaceful atmosphere, and discreet elegance at every turn.||||From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and exceptional attention to detail. Everything is thoughtfully curated to offer a tailor-made experience, blending luxury, comfort, and authenticity.||||Although my suitcase didn’t arrive on the first day, the staff went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. Their kindness, efficiency, and genuine care made all the difference and allowed us to fully enjoy our stay from the very beginning.||||A heartfelt thank you to Loana, Benjamin, Cléo, and Clémence, who made our stay even more special with their attentiveness and professionalism. Fine vistas, restaurant is wonderful

2nd séjour au Carl Gustaf … tout aussi réussi que le précédent.|La chambre est parfaite - bien qu’un peu bruyante à certaines heures en raison de la proximité avec la rue. Mais ce qui fait la différence, c’est le processus de réservation très pro, ce sont les petites attentions dans la chambre, ce sont la gentillesse et la prévenance du staff et l’efficacité de la conciergerie.|On peut ajouter la table du beefbar … très sympa ????

Do not stay here if you want any sort of peace and tranquility. Our 5 day stay here was really disappointing which is a shame as we were so excited for our stay. Our 2BR suite sat right above maybe the loudest street in Gustavia sitting right above a hill. Given the small cars and motor bikes of St Barts your entire stay all you here is loud revving of these engines.. constantly.. providing no peace and feeling like your room is above a 3rd world country. Remember there is no communal pool so you virtually have no where to escape as your personal pool is too loud to lounge at. Really only option is to sit at the restaurant all day.

We stayed closer to the street as the hotel is supposedly walking to Gustavia. Although it seems this way it really only is if you are young. If you are say +50 the hill is too steep and the hotel says they cannot provide a transfer just 100 meters down the hill. What we found odd is they will for some guest and others not.. Depending on their mood. Very strange. Even the drivers said they could but then front desk on occasions said no. So you're told to call a taxi to go a mere 100 meters which feels completely illogical.

Note we are not hard people to please and this is the first time we have left a hotel disappointed. We felt there was a complete lack of transparency in not disclosing how loud it was in this room. We wouldn't stay in that room again even if it was half the rate. Which would be $1800 USD per night instead of the $3,600 on average we paid. To make matters worse we learned from a couple at the beach they were provided a complimentary upgrade from a 1BR to a high level 2BR on their check in. Which although appreciative they laughed they didn't understand why as they had no need for the 2BR. Why wouldn't you offer that to our group of 3 that you know is on the loud street and celebrating multiple occasions?.. we would have even just payed for it if the severity of the loudness was disclosed. Mind boggling from whoever is running room bookings.

Service was mostly good with breakfast being a little slow (Given its a 5 star hotel). But there were some stand outs with the restaurant team at night being amazing. We will miss the bartender Rudy. & a handful of other kind people with even our cleaning lady being such a gem. Concierge was mostly good as well but as you would expect at a 5 Star and at the room rate.

I see this hotel has mostly good reviews but I imagine they are for the rooms closer to the top. Leaving this to give a heads up for future guest and/or hopefully the hotel starts to disclose the noice at the bottom and thereafter prices those rooms appropriately which should be at a heavy discount.

The experience at Le Carl Gustaf was outstanding! The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and true professionals, from the valet, to the front desk, restaurant staff, and housekeeping.|My room was spacious, the large bathroom was loaded with amenities, and I love the remote controlled curtains. |This was not my first stay at this delightful hotel and I cannot wait to return.

The room was nice but there is no stand up shower you have to shower in a tub with a hand held sprayer attached to a wall holder. I would have expected a proper stand up shower. We booked Room with a private pool which was a nice amenity. It has a beautiful view. The hotel pickup from ferry was timely and comfortable car and friendly driver. We should have taken the flight from St Martin. I thought we wouldn't have time to connect but we cleared customs in minutes. The hotel booked us ferry they didn't tell us there was coach and business class just booked us in coach. There is no wifi on coach and it's not a luxury ferry. About one hour transit from St Martin to St barths. Definitely fly. We flew back on winair and it was a quick flight. I was disappointed in the food at the hotel and the service. They claim they have fresh squeezed juice but it's cold pressed and made off site. The omelet was so salty I had to send it back. We put a do not disturb on door but they come in anyways. I always think at a nice restaurant if the server checks on you after they serve food to ask how it is but that never happened. Also at a nice resort the manager generally comes around to check how things are going. That never happened either. The hotel has beach access but it's not white sand and not private it's a shell beach which hurts to walk on. So while the room was nice and the view from breakfast is nice since the hotel has no access to white sand beach and bad food and bad service id try another hotel if I go back. Also they gave me the bill a few hours before checkout and didn't provide American express credits so I had to call amex. Overall a nice trip but at these prices and with no white sand beach I would have expected five star customer service and food

This hotel was truly the best experience I’ve ever had in Saint Barth! From the warm welcome to the incredibly friendly and attentive staff, every detail was perfect. The rooms are absolutely stunning, and having a private pool right in the room was an amazing touch. Can’t recommend it enough – it made our trip unforgettable!

My wife and I visited St. Bart's for the first time this week. It was a last minute overnight from St. Martin (a holiday within a holiday) and we had no idea what to expect. What we didn't expect was the experience of a lifetime thanks to the team at Le Carl Gustaf. They made us feel like we were part of the family in our home away from home.||It started from the moment we landed when our hotel driver went to get our luggage and found out it was not on our flight. My wife, far from being upset, was very excited about the opportunity to buy some new items for dinner. The hotel followed up with the airline, sent a driver back to the airport and dropped our luggage in our room all while my wife and I were shopping.||Check in was a wonderful experience with the two of us sitting at a table overlooking the harbour while the bartender brought over water and whatever welcome drink we wanted.||Twenty minutes later Chleo, showed us to our room and helped us settle in. From the bottle of Veuve, to the spectacular views, to the private pool on the terrace everything was done to make us feel like family.||Chloe also arranged last minute dinner reservations at the hotel's Beefbar restaurant for us and the wonderful food and amazing views were unforgettable. ||Checkout the next day came far too quickly and I was only able to escape with my wife with the promise of a longer stay in the not too distant future. The rest of our stay in St. Martin paled in comparison to this experience. ||One final Thank You to Chleo, our driver and all the restaurant staff that made this overnight so very special for the two of us. I'm just sorry I didn't remember everyone's name that contributed to making us feel part of the family. ||A beintot (See you soon).

This place is phenomenal. Our room, food and stay was PERFECT.

The concierge team and staff went above and beyond to accommodate my family and I will be forever grateful. A special thank you to the manager Nelly, Clemence and Batiste. When our travel plans were interrupted, they helped saved my dad’s birthday and were very resourceful. They were also sincere and very thoughtful.

After visiting some other top hotels during our short visit I am so happy we chose this hotel. It is centrally located on the island. It is a walkable 10 minutes to Gustavia port and the best shopping/action on the island. It is the only 5 star resort in Gustavia.

We would return without hesitation. Blessings forever to this staff.

Very fine staff in every department — airport pickup, front desk, restaurant, housekeeping.

On balance a great location very close to the shops and restaurants of Gustavia (easy walking distance but a very steep descent/ascent for those on foot), and Shell Beach.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was perfect. Very luxurious, awesome views of Gustavia and a short walk to dinners every night. Having a valet on-site so we didn't have to worry about parking our car after exploring the island all day was a great benefit as well. Highly recommend!

Dining at Beefbar was a highlight, with its fantastic views and delectable cuisine that will surely be featured in our marketing materials.

Elite Location excellent concierge

This hotel is just fantastic. We had a fantastic suite overlooking the Harbor. Service was attentive, the room had all amenities you could hope for, our pool was in the smaller size but quite refreshing the Beefbar restaurant was great. I highly recommend and will be back

Cet hôtel fera le bonheur de ceux qui recherchent une petite structure (21 suites), un service exceptionnel et le fait de pouvoir aller dans Gustavia à pieds pour dîner et/ou faire du shopping.
Nous avions une superbe suite avec terrasse, piscine et une vue panoramique sur le port de Gustavia et St Martin.
Le service a été incroyable, le soin spa (L’evasion à deux) sur la
terrasse de la suite est un must.
La plage de Shell Beach, superbe, est à deux minutes à pieds

We originally booked this hotel for its unique location just above Gustavia. Stunningly beautiful views of the harbor, plus the ability to easily walk to the beach and lots of great restaurants make this location unbeatable! The hotel provides airport transfers, so you don’t need to rent a car. We just rented a Moke for one day of exploring, but otherwise walked everywhere - so nice! Our 2BD suite was spacious and comfortable, and the large private patio was awesome. But it’s the world class service from the concierge team that we will most remember. Every request for a reservation or an inquiry for assistance was responded to promptly and to the highest standards. Plus they were truly over the top nice people! The only suggestion we have is to request a room high on the property because the lower rooms have road traffic noise. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and can’t wait to return!

Un hôtel exceptionnel dont j'ai assuré la promotion il y a près de 30 ans a l'époque où c'était un établissement privé. Situation exceptionnelle en face de st Martin baie de Gustavia. Suite double et Simple avec piscine privée. Restaurant gastronomique et bar panoramique. Spa et toutes les prestations attendues à un tel niveau. Un écrin sur une île qui reste formidable.

From the moment we arrived the service was tailored to our Specific Stay. Made birthday arrangements for my wife, the service was very detailed to everything we needed. Restaurant bookings, car rental, Breakfast and sunset and the most incredible views of Gustavia! Right up the hill from Shellona which was fantastic, and location a 10 as we walked to and from dinner some nights. Spa was great too, would stay again

Nous avons passé 2 nuits splendides au Carl avec mon mari ! Les vues depuis le hall étaient magnifiques ! C'était un court séjour mais très doux!
LE PERSONNEL: - Le personnel était très attentionné et serviable. Nous avons été gâtés avec une belle assiette de macarons et une bouteille de champagne glacé. Le temps de réponse pour le service de chambre n'était rien au-delà de quelques minutes et même les soins et l'attention pendant le petit-déjeuner - dans l'ensemble, le personnel était EXCEPTIONNEL ! Y compris le personnel de nettoyage et de sécurité !!
LA CHAMBRE :- Chambre Hi-Tech ! Son surround, ouverture / fermeture automatique des rideaux et bien plus encore. La vue depuis le balcon était à couper le souffle, le lit très confortable, il y avait un choix d'oreillers mais le lit avait déjà deux types d'oreillers par côté. La salle de bain et les toilettes étaient propres et équipées de tous les articles de toilette nécessaires.

L'hôtel est très proche de Shell Beach et un lit gratuit est fourni par Shellona pour les clients du Carl ! L'hôtel est à distance de marche de plusieurs restaurants.
Nous avons passé un moment fabuleux au Carl et nous reviendrons vous rendre visite!

Dès l'instant où nous sommes arrivés, le service était attentionné et authentique. Les vues étaient exceptionnelles et c'est un excellent emplacement où vous êtes proche de tout à Gustavia. Les chambres étaient exceptionnellement conçues et aménagées. Je le recommande vivement à tous ceux qui visitent St Barth.

J'ai eu beaucoup de chance dans ma vie d'avoir voyagé dans des destinations incroyables que beaucoup considéreraient comme ultra luxueuses en Europe, en Asie et dans les Amériques. Je n'ai jamais rencontré un service client aussi authentique et chaleureux que mon mari que j'ai reçu par le personnel et la direction de cet hôtel. Sans donner trop de détails, je dirai que nous nous sommes retrouvés dans une situation incroyablement difficile en voyageant à Saint-Barth et le personnel de cet hôtel nous a traités avec une véritable compassion. Le niveau d'attention que nous avons reçu était sans précédent, même par rapport à certains des meilleurs hôtels 5 étoiles du monde. Un merci spécial à Chleo et Nelly! Nous ne vous oublierons jamais et nous vous rendrons certainement visite bientôt!

Dîner au restaurant Fouquet's. L'atmosphère et les paysages étaient incroyables mais la nourriture était décevante. J'ai commandé les linguines aux crevettes et je n'ai eu aucun goût.

Hôtel incroyable avec une vue magnifique sur Gustavia. Nous sommes restés 1 semaine, ne pouvait pas être un meilleur choix. Nous avions une grande chambre confortable, avec une grande terrasse. 2 min à pied de la grande plage et de notre restaurant préféré Shellona. Nous y reviendrions ! Très bon service! Cela en vaut la peine!
