My young child picked this place for a quick bite as we waited for his brother to finish his nearby swimming lesson as it was too warm at the pool. It’s your typical slightly shabby tourist café with an overpriced basic menu, but was clean and initially welcoming. The lentil soup was lukewarm (despite being warned that it was hot) and I wouldn’t have guessed it had any lentil in it. What really set this place apart though was the proprietors attitude. Having asked for the bill we were told we would have to wait 10-15 minutes as the card machine wasn’t working. When I tried to explain that I had to go pick up my other child his demeanour abruptly changed and I was tersely told “you are on my time, I am not on yours”. I was also accused of lying when I said I did not have any ID (which for the record I did not) to leave behind to come back and pay later. We waited, but I ended up with 2 upset children, one because of the “mean man” and the other because I was late for pick up. Needless to say, we will not be returning here in future. Given there are several excellent cafés nearby I’d also recommend others pass this one by.

Good service and reasonable price fish & chip. Friendly and quiet atmosphere for dine-in too.
