It's a great spot. I've visited 3 or 4 times in my tenure in SD. Don't want to over hype it but it's definitely worth the wait. Usually less than 30 min burgers are huge so plan accordingly.

The place is nice with a cool vibe but the burguer aren’t what I expected, my vegan burguer looked like a salad… tons of lettuce pickles and big piece of tomatoes with a tiny slide of yamani rice patty, they didn’t have vegan mayo so it was super bland , also the onions were cutted in huge pieces and my boyfriend didn’t like his either. I ordered a HOT coffee and I ask the waitress for a spoon and she told me to use q plastic straw to mixed ???????????? I had to go I get it myself. Overall don’t recommend this place.

I wish Google had negative 5 stars. This place gave me food poisoning. They told me that they ran out of meat that day and used a substitute supplier so they didn’t feel that they should be held accountable for the food poisoning. I’m a registered nurse and I’m very familiar with food poisoning as I’ve treated numerous patients with it. I called the restaurant immediately to alert them but they were extremely deceptive by telling me that the manager would call me to reimburse me. It never happened. This establishment is dishonest and disgusting ????. I wouldn’t risk my health if I were you. I lost two days of work which was a huge loss and all I requested was reimbursement of a whole $36. It’s not about the money. It’s about principle and accountability. Welcome to California where there is neither of these elements.

Over hyped burger joint, I believe people love quantity and that's all you will get from here. The burger was one of the most flavorless, messiest burgers I've ever eaten and the bread was soggy; the onion rings were just okay, the fries were good but that's it! You couldn't even taste the bacon on the burger!! I believe the portion size is why people think they're so amazing but there are better burgers out there, I'm sure of it; this was my 1st and last time to this "staple" & after spending about 60 bucks, we left about 75 percent of the food if not more, it just wasn't worth eating the rest nor taking a carryout container. The worst burgers I've eaten thus far!! I'll stick with STK steak house if I want a burger while I'm in town.

Went here because of a recommendation from a friend, wasn't disappointed. Burger I had was huge, glad I only had the single, great flavor. Service was good, and a fun surfer atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Came in on a Sunday night. Was surprised that they were so crowded. They did empty out during our stay. Ordered a double cheeseburger. It was a sloppy delicious mess of a meal. Ordered onion rings. Did not care for them as much as I liked my girlfriend's fries. Note that for next time. Nice little beer list. Recommend coming in enjoying the burgers and checking out the walls.

A staple in OB! Simple menu with big returns. Shake is big enough for two! Side of fries/onion rings are also huge portions. A must stop when in OB!

Hey.... Hodad's in Ocean Beach.....We LOVE your place... I stopped by to buy a gift certificate yesterday for one of your fans (my hubby) there was a little mix up when we checked out on the charge.
I just want to commend Hodad's for the AWESOME way in which they handled and fixed my boo. boo. It is so appreciated. In this day and age, it's a rare thing to find such fantastic customer service. Really happy and super impressed.
