HILTON LOS ANGELES – UNIVERSAL CITY

Rooms are nice but the dining situation is an overpriced mess.

Love this hotel and the convience it brings to universal tours

Overall, I was satisfied, and believe it’s the best option when going to universal just by proximity. It’s a very short walk. They offer a shuttle, but the walk is less than 10 minutes. Everyone is mostly friendly when they greet you. The pool was warm and delightful. The rooms were clean, and the beds were comfy.

Here is why I rated low:
1) They rented out the walkway to universal to a wedding party, and there was no way to get back to the hotel without walking in the street around a blind corner. We watched a couple with a stroller almost get taken out by their shuttle van on the way back from universal. There is no way anyone would have reasonably known that this event would shut down the walkway when at the park all day. No one seemed to care and they all just said they encourage taking the shuttle when they do events. Except again, there is no notice, and the majority of people are not taking the shuttle because it’s so close. I think this policy 100% needs to change or they need to add a secondary walkway for safety. One day someone will get seriously hurt, and that shouldn’t have to happen when there is a real safety concern.

2) the hotel restaurant is actually pretty good, but all of the stuff in the buffet is literally the free stuff you get at every other Hilton with a few add ons. It was not like it was bad, but for three of us, it was $100, and in hindsight I’d rather get the breakfast at Johnny Rockets just inside universal city, where the food was super fresh and half the price.

3) At checkout time we could not get an elevator that wasn’t already packed by the time it came to our floor on the 9th, and ended up carrying our luggage down the stairs. It was good exercise, but just annoying lol.

4) They don’t have obvious “line starts here” signs for checkin and checkout and so people stand in random places and get super aggressive when the people in the right place get called up first.

Don't rely on the shuttle in the morning!!! They pick up at the Sheraton first, often filling up completely, leaving you stand outside for 20+ minutes before a bus comes to get you. It's crazy that it's spring break and they are running 1 bus for the mornings.

Other than that, the room is fine for just sleeping in after a long day at the park. The fridge worked great and the staff were all nice and helpful. We would stay here again if we ever came back to the area.

The customer service at this hotel was amazing! Big shout out to the lost prevention/security team! I left my wallet in the safe of our room and drove back home. After realizing I had forgot it, the team recovered my wallet from the room which had cash in it, and set me up with shipping to have it sent back to me. I received it in one day with everything accounted for! I am extremely grateful and appreciate the safety and security of my stuff! Thank you so much!
