L’OSTELLO DEI SASSI

First of all I will writte good things and thats location, also good is that hostel is in old historical building , so you can get more Matera experience. I also like style of design inside.And thats it. Bad was lots of things! I send email in day of arriving when I will come, didnt get repley, when I come, reception was closed and I call their numbers and finnaly someone answer ( that was around 9 pm , so not very late).I didnt feel good about that.
Electricity plug near my bed didnt work, i tell about that in morning, I ask can I change because was lots of free beds and didnt get the answer - answer was that she will see afternoon, and then again no one. And bed bugs are there a lot!And other bugs also
All over the wall and in a bed ! Also , all room with 12 beds have one small window ( I know thats historical building and you can not make it one more) and one fan!
And in the end , my plans changed so with all this negative things I ask in whatsup number are they have bed for tomorow because didnt see in booking and hostelworld and after around 5 haurs I get respond, was thinking thanks a God that allready I change plan so was going out.

This hostel is chronically infested with bed bugs, in every room, on both floors, in the annex and in the common area. Fortunately I had a mosquito net which I slept in, but I found several bugs crawling over it when I woke up, and I will now have to wash/disinfect all my belongings when I go home.

Looking at other reviews, the problem has existed for years. The management is well aware of the issue and has a list of excuses pinned to the wall for the receptionist to use when people complain. To my surprise, I was shown a certificate of professional fumigation that was two months old, so the hostel is clearly attempting to tackle the problem, however these attempts are clearly insufficient. The management appears to be in denial that the infestation is unusual, claiming that recurrences are due to backpackers bringing the bed bugs in. No! Bed bugs are not typical for hostels in 2022. This hostel needs to be temporarily closed, all bedframes and mattresses replaced, and repeatedly fumigated until the problem is solved.

Unfortunately this appears to be the only hostel currently taking bookings in Matera, so backpackers are left with no choice but to stay here or avoid the city.

L'établissement est infesté de punaises de lit, j'ai voulu annuler ma réservation quand je m'en suis rendue compte mais aucun accord n'a été trouvé avec cette auberge. Ils préfèrent masquer les problèmes plutôt que des les affronter et prendre la responsabilité. Je suis extrêmement déçue de cet hébergement, je ne le recommande à personne.
