Nous avons voyagé avec AOW en direct. Très bon accueil personnalisé en arrivant. Nous avons été pris en charge pour nos transferts aéroports également avec des chauffeurs très chaleureux. La prise en main de la voiture est sérieuse avec des explications et des conseils clairs. ( changement de roue , utilisation du compresseur etc..) . L équipement de base est complet. Important, nous avons voyagé avec une voiture en toute sécurité ( 4500km ) et n' avons eu aucun incident à déplorer. Pas même une petite crevaison! La voiture était récente et les pneus neufs ou quasi neufs. L ' agence propose aussi toutes les options possibles . L ' équipe est également très réactive pour toute question avant et après la réservation . Lors du voyage nous avions un numéro GSM que nous pouvions appeler H24 . ( et dont nous n' avons pas eu besoin!). Nous recommandons; la qualité du service de cette agence a bien entendu contribué à la réussite de notre voyage.

wir hatten eine Toyota Landcruiser (Strechvariante) für 5 Personen gebucht. Abholservice am Flughafen absolut top. Ausführliche Übergabe und Einweisung folgte. Der Wagen hatte schon einiges “durchgemacht”, alle “Kleinschäden” wurden im Übernahmeprotokoll vermerkt und dann gings schon los. Nach 75 km viel der Tacho aus, grosser Schreck, aber bei 2000UPM waren das so um die 80km/h und das passte so. Die Servicehotline war sofort erreichbar und hat Hilfe angeboten. Wir haben uns entschieden, ohne “Tachoanzeige” weiter zu fahren, da er zeitweise wieder funktionierte. Insgesammt sind wir ca 2500km gefahren, macht schon einen riesen Spass, so ein V8 Diesel mit 4,5 l Hubraum ????
Die Abgabe lief absolut problemlos und der Mitarbeiter von Aftican Wheels hat uns dann wieder zum Flughafen gebracht.
Fazit: Top Mietwagenanbieter, sehr Professionell, und für unseren mächsten Namibia Trip auf jeden Fall wieder vorgemerkt.

Six of us rented the big Landcruiser in February 2024. All in all, we were very satisfied with the whole process. The reservation online went smoothly and we were able to request some small changes by e-mail, such as an extra coolbox with battery, which we could use very well on the hot days. We were picked up by a friendly driver at the airport directly in our car and driven to the rental. The service provided by Hannah on site was very friendly and courteous. Before we set off in the car, we were given very detailed instructions on the car's functions. We were shown how to change a wheel and how the engine works. What we really appreciated was that we could constantly ask for help via WhatsApp. There are many gravel roads in Namibia, so rocks hitting the front window are not that rare. We were able to find a partner garage via WhatsApp within a very short time thanks to the help of Africa on Wheels. The car itself was in great condition and very clean! The other cars in the fleet that we saw on the parking also left a very clean and high-quality impression. There were no complications with the return and everything went perfectly (including punctual airport transfer). So if you are looking for a reliable rental company in Namibia. I can highly recommend them.

We booked Toyota Hilux Double Cab 2.4L for one week in Namibia. Someone from AoW wait for us in arrival hall and take us to AoW in Windhoek (45 min). Then our car was ready, but be prepared for complete instructions about rooftop tents, equipment, fridge etc. which was actually quite annoying because it was more than 1 hour, but it’s necessary and it makes your first tent set up easier and quicker. Just count with it.

Vehicle was in good order, all working nice and nothing missing in camping equipment. You have a double tank which means you can drive like 700 km for one tank (so 1400 km in total) and that makes it easier and you don’t need to plan that much regarding fill up your car.

We really enjoyed this one week with AoW vehicle and I can only recommend car rental with them!

We rented a Toyota LandCruiser HJ79 from Africa on Wheels with a 2p and a 3p rooftop tent during the whole month of August 2023. The car was in perfect condition and could, without any issues, conquer any type of terrain. Included in the rental price was a free transfer to and from the airport. When you pick up the vehicle, you will receive a briefing about the car and the tents etc. (which takes about 1-1.5 hour). Africa on Wheels can provide the necessary documents for border crossings, and can help with satellite phone rental if you need one. I believe camping is the best way to really experience Namibia, and AoW provides you with all the equipment you need. Plus, their prices are very competitive in comparison with other rental companies in Windhoek. I only have 2 negative points : First, the tent zippers were very tough since the beginning of our rental and at a certain point during our trip one of them even broke, so we had to sew a towel over part of the mosquito mesh. And secondly, the temperature of the fridge in the vehicle sometimes went above 10° C, so we had to plug it into the campsites' electricity. Although I'm sure AoW would have helped us if we had called, these were very minor issues and we were able to temporarily fix them ourselves. After all, problems like that are inevitable during a 1-month trip and are part of the adventure! Thanks to AoW we had an incredible trip through Namibia and the Kgalagadi!

Update:
After the initial problems the owners were quite helpful and offered a fair compensation for our troubles. We also received a new car.

-> I would come back here.

Disappointed. We paid for two 4x4 full price. We got old cars with +200.000 km. Probably more than 6 years old.

In 2 days we have already the 3rd problem with both cars and needed to go to a garage. It feels like we spend more time fixing the cars instead of actually using it.

Let's see what else happens over the next few days ...

Our group rented three 4*4' with rooftents. Cars were nice Toyota Hilux with all the camping gear we needed. The whole proces of collecting the car was smooth. One of the cars had an aircon problem when we were 350km away from Windhoek but the company sent a mechanic who was there the next morning at 8:30 to do a repair. Great service! Big thanks!

Absolut guter Service. Infolge Ausfall der Klimaanlage an unserem Fortuner wurde uns innerhalb von 2 Tagen ein gleichwertiges Ersatzfahrzeug gestellt. Dies in der Grootberg Lodge, mehr als 500km von der Basis in Windhoek entfernt. Vielen Dank nochmals auf diesem Weg. Peter

Unser Auto hatte bereits 220000km hinter sich. Bei der Übergabe funktionierte die Zentralverriegelung per Schlüsselknopfdruck nicht, das wurde nicht abgestellt. Mit einem schlecht geflickten Reifen mussten wir nach 2 Tagen für Ersatz sorgen, was uns wertvolle Urlaubszeit kostete. Ein elektrischer Defekt hat die Batterie leer gezogen. Das Überbrückungskabel war gebrochen und nicht brauchbar. Bei Abgabe des Fahrzeugs wurde lt. Vertrag kein Übergabeprotokoll erstellt. Drei Tage später wurde uns eine angeblich fehlende Batterie in Rechnung gestellt. Völlig überzogenen, da die realen Preise geringer sind !! Das Büro ließ uns eiskalt abblitzen, da wir nicht mehr vor Ort Klärung erlangen konnten. Finger weg !

Net terug van een 3 weekse trip ( Toyota hilux met 1 2p en 1 3p daktent) door Namibië en Botswana. Prima en veilige auto, ook in Botswana voelden we ons helemaal veilig bovenop de auto met de beesten beneden… Wel aantal mankementen ( accu, AC) maar snelle en goede hulp en ondersteuning van Africa on Wheels. Aanrader!!

Echt een aanrader, communicatie vooraf was super, transport naar en van vliegveld prima geregeld. Maar vooral; wat een geweldige auto, we hebben 4000 km probleemloos gereden.

We huurden een auto met 2 daktenten voor onze reis door Namibië en Botswana. Alles is prima verlopen. We hebben bijna 5.000 km gereden en het enige dat kapot ging was de koelkast. Maar dat werd snel en praktisch opgelost. Ze stuurden iemand met een nieuwe koelkast. Van Windhoek maar Etosha! Goede service dus. Ook alle administratie verliep soepel. De auto is goed uitgerust met kampeerspullen. De matrassen in de daktenten zijn niet dik, maar voldeden voor ons. Africa on Wheels zorgde ook voor vervoer van en naar het vliegveld. Alles prima geregeld dus.

We had a wonderful experience renting our 4x4 Toyota Hilux from this agency. The entire experience from start to finish was flawless. The pricing was very competitive and the service was great. The courtesy airport pick up/drop off was very much appreciated. All employees were friendly and courteous.
