This is not a hotel, but a residential school which rents the room during the summer break. The complete equipment are worn out school furnitures and alike. The shower was rusty and stinky. This was by far our worst stay in Island.

We arrived at the hotel at around 1pm . We wanted to know if an early check-in was possible but the reception was closed and there was no way of contacting them outside of their operating hours.

The hotel is actually a dorm ( as already pointed out by many) and the water really does smell of sulphur. No shampoo/ shower gel was provided.

No Television in the room .

The heating was extremely noisy so we had to turn it off , even though it was really cold night because we just couldn't sleep with the loud gurgling sounds it was making.

There are 2 gas stations , a supermarket , a swimming pool and a diner nearby .

At dinner, we tried the reindeer burger . It was delicious ! We were served by a lovely and pleasant man who made Origami and let our son have one of his creations :)

Located in a quiet place in Egilsstaðir with the backdrop of scenic forest.
Staffs were kind enough.
Breakfast was, okay.

The rooms are definitely dorms. Or former dorms. That being said they’ll do for a stop over on the way around the ring road. The hotel was in a decent location and did have beautiful views of the lake and mountains.

Man merkte sofort das es sich um ein Internat handelt. Mehr Sauberkeit wäre erwünscht. Frühstück war nicht abwechslungsreich, aber man konnte satt werden.
