SANTA MONACA HOSTEL ^{* * *}

The best thing about this hostel is the location, it’s over the bridge and I felt safe walking around at night. However this place is really musty, it is outdated and simply is just a bed to sleep in, I’d look into a different place in the future. My bed seemed slept in when I arrived and told reception and they did move the sheets and gave me new ones but I felt weird knowing that it had not been stripped prior, I asked to change the bed and was told everyone had already checked in but that didn’t seem true. Beds were rock solid and made a noise every time you moved which was an inconvenience when you are in a room with 10 other people. The common room had furniture that was very old and overall the whole building was smelly. A positive was that the water was hot but other than that wouldn’t recommend and advise you to stay somewhere else.

I have been in many hostels but this was the worst experience i had. First of all, the last check in is at 2 am. I arrived around 2.30 and i didnt see that I need to give notice because of my late arrival. So when I went after 2am, the guy in reception got triggered and started to lecture me about how unthoughful I am, now he needs to restart all the system and force everything just for me. I apologized and just waited but he was really annoyed. I asked him something about the payment and he hot angry as if i was accusing him with something and said "everything is on your mail why are you asking me" and when I asked him why he is yelling, he got super mad and implied he is doing this check in process all to help me and i am being ungreatful and asking about money and saying that he is wrong. So suddenly he decided to not to do our check in. we were two girls and it was 3am in the morning. he left everything and opened thr front door for us to get out :) then I couldnt resist my anger tears since I was here to only enjoy my vacation. afyer that he felt some guilt I guess and tried to be friendly.
Anyways he ruined my first day in floramce basically. that was extreme.
about the hostel overall: its not like the worst place to stay in. but I wouldnt recommend. rooms are crowded and air doesnt go inside the room so if somebody smells bad, whole room smells terrible. showers and toilets were clean enough. beds were making sounds and not very much comfortable. ı didnt see or use any common area. I also didnt use the kitchen. there is also no elevator so you need to carry your bags upstairs. and you cant enter the hostel between 3-6 am. It has a good location close to bridge.

The worst experience I have had with them, broken toilets rooms are not as they told on advertisement. No silence hours, very overpriced and very low hygiene and low security no towels will be provided but expensive. Please think before you come. This is scam
