NOVECENTO

We booked a two-night stay at the Novecento for April 18-20, 2023. The Novecento holds itself out as a boutique 3-star hotel and advertises that its rooms have air conditioning. However, the room was hot and humid overnight, and the air conditioning would not turn on. We had to open a window to cool down, which resulted in an influx of mosquitos biting us, because there was no mosquito screen on the windows. In addition, the bed was advertised as a “superior double” but was actually two single beds that had been pushed together. The two beds were not attached to each other in any way, so kept slipping apart.

After an uncomfortable and mostly sleepless night, we decided to move to a different hotel. We wrote to the hotel to advise of the problems and request a refund, given the room was not as advertised.

The hotel’s response was dismissive from the outset. They first claimed that air conditioning is “seasonal” and they are not allowed to turn it on until June 1. When we advised that we could not find any evidence of a law restricting air conditioning, and that the hotel we moved to provided it, they admitted they choose not to use it. The hotel staff said “we have to coexist with” the mosquitoes, and claimed to have mosquito repellent machines in the rooms. The dozens of bites we received show that the machines were either not operating or ineffective. Regarding the bed, the staff claimed that it is “normal” to push two beds together to create a double bed.

The above information is not on the hotel’s website and was not provided when we booked. Had we known that air conditioning would not be available, and the only option would be to open the window and get bitten by mosquitos, we would not have booked this hotel.

l'emplacement est parfait, en plein centre ville, à proximité de la gare, du port pour les bateaux touristiques et de tous les restaurants, bars, commerces, mais dans une petite impasse très calme. L'ensemble de l'équipe est très sympathique et toujours de bons conseils pour les aspects touristiques. les chambres sont très propres, spacieuses, et le petit déjeuner très complet et très bon. Un excellent séjour et un point de départ idéal pour visiter le cinque terre et la région. Merci à Anna et Gugliermo pour leur accueil et leurs conseils, et à Maria pour son attention et à tous pour la gentillesse.

Our Lead Concierge recently stayed at Hotel Novecento and can't say enough good things about it! At Authenteco, we focus on locally owned and unique stays, activities, and restaurants for our travelers and Novecento was all of these things and more.

The breakfast was so yummy and the quietness of the hotel was just perfect for our two nights in Venice. Additionally, they have a water fountain in the garden and their sister hotel Hotel Flora, does as well which makes refilling your water bottles so easy!

They support and recommend other local Venetian businesses and restaurants and even made some lunch reservations for us. This is a fantastic place if you want to get away from the hustle of Venice. The rooms and bathrooms are smaller but full of so much character and are very comfy!

I can't say enough good things. I wish I could live here because the staff is fabulous and so friendly and the building itself is so beautiful and well maintained.

Can't wait to come again!

Wonderful atmosphere in this boutique hotel!!! A must for all Venezia visitors!
