service and ambience were great.. but not sure about the food here. ravioli with mushroom was average, risotto with clam had grits every bite, and fish was extremely dry… I am 99.99999% sure they use frozen shrimp/ fish, but waitress said they were fresh.. there is no way… We were the only ppl in 30s…. and everyone was like late 50-60s.. so maybe taste buds can be different, but sadly I do not recommend this place. def try bilacus in Bellagio x10000000

This place is the trifecta: it has amazing views, great food, and excellent service. Though it is still the busy season in Varenna, the maitre'd kindly gave us a table after someone had cancelled a reservation. All the servers were so nice, and so attentive. They were efficient, but unobtrusive, and all spoke excellent English (helpful, because we speak embarrassing Italian!) We really liked the house red wine, which comes from grapes grown not far away. The amuse bouche was a nice touch, and the insalata mista was very fresh. I really enjoyed my pumpkin gnocchi with butter and sage, and my husband had perfectly prepared fresh water bass with mashed sweet potato. Oh, and the whole grain bread they brought to the table was some of the best I've had in Italy! To top it off, there was an amazing sunset! (But you could also top it off with one of their amazing desserts. Unfortunately, we were too full by then.) And if you are vegetarian or vegan, they have many options.

Terrazza panoramica sul lago.
Ambiente molto curato e bella atmosfera. Servizio attento e competente. Cucina e cantina all'altezza delle aspettative. Assolutamente consigliato per cene romantiche.
