We were excited to stay here, perfect area and air conditioning in the heat was a must! Arrived and checked in, entire hotel a/c system was down and they said they had been working on it for a week and would still be a few days. If they would have reached out prior to the closing of the 24 hour cancellation period I would have cancelled and gone elsewhere but was not given that option. The only consideration that was offered was as much ice as we wanted and free water from their water dispenser. No offer of a free breakfast or a rate reduction. Not even an offer to let us out of the reservation. And we were not told at the front desk before we checked in. We only found out once we stepped into the sweltering room and there was a letter on the bed.

Overall, a nice hotel. The staff were very friendly, in particular the night porter who was on duty on 08 and 09 June - he was charming! The breakfast was fine - the dining room is small. We were part of a group tour so there were a lot of people having breakfast at the same time - this meant that certain items ran out very quickly and there was some waiting around for these items to be replenished - not great when one needs to be out of the hotel at a particular time. Our room was clean, with a comfortable bed. Unfortunately, we were on the fourth floor in a dormer type room and it was very small with sloping ceilings (several bumped heads over the course of our stay). The bathroom was also very small but my main objection was the location of the bathroom itself. The toilet was approximately 5 foot away from the bed and, as there was only a sliding door between the bathroom and the bedroom (which did not fully fit and could not be closed over completely), it meant that there was absolutely no privacy when using the bathroom. Unpleasant, to say the least. I would stay here again but would request a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor, where the rooms appear to be better laid out.

Great hotel overall. Always had good service. Wanted to rent a e bike and even though they didn't have any their sister hotel down the street did so we were able to take the bike path to sword beach...

Hotel terribile, mi hanno dato una stanza con il divano letto, come si vede dalla foto, e la vasca, chiedo di cambiare la stanza e la receptionist mi risponde che non c'erano altre stanze, poi mi inviano una email in cui mi dicono che mi avevano proposto una camera al 4° piano, assolutamente falso, e ancora peggio è il fatto che invece di chiedere scusa dicono che io non ho voluto la stanza al 4° piano per stare con i miei amici. Assolutamente falso|Vergogna

Veldig bra hotell med flotte rom, fantastisk beliggenhet og ypperlig service. Vi fikk et oppgradert rom med terrasse og utsikt. Frokosten er ganske enkel, men med bare førsteklasses produkter. Betjeningen var svært serviceminded. Anbefales.

Accueil et service au top la directrice ( Mme labrosse ) est exceptionnelle d une gentillesse et un professionnalisme qui fait plaisir à voir. |Les chambres sont très bien, espace, propreté et calme. |Je recommande l'hôtel les yeux fermés j y vient depuis 12 ans et je continuerais à y venir.

Très bon accueil, emplacement idéal au coeur de la ville, tout peut être fait à pied ! Et quelle découverte de cette magnifique ville de Caen dont j'avais un souvenir de mignonne. Mais là, les rues piétonnes sont nombreuses animées et surtout ce florilège d'enseignes, c'est plaisant que le commerce ne se meurt pas comme à Paris. Franchement, le département ou la ville ont fait un travail remarquable !! Tous les monuments sont mis en valeur, c'est propre et il semble y faire bon vivre à Caen ! Je reviendrais en amoureux pour visiter plus longuement la ville et notamment le jardin des plantes !! Pour l'hôtel, je n'ai pas trouvé très correct de facturer le ptit déjeuner de ma fille de 10 ans au même prix que les adultes (16€ soit 48 € sur la facture finale, soit 30% du prix de la chambre....) à méditer !

Nous avons passé une très bonne nuit dans cet hôtel. Tout était très bien. Mise à disposition d'eau citronnée et de viennoiseries, très appréciable. L'emplacement parfait sur une jolie place. Un personnel très agréable, seul bémol : nous voulions mettre 5/5 avant de nous rendre compte que l'hôtel avait des accords tarifaires très intéressants avec le parking situé en face...mais que nous n'en avions pas été informé. Une différence très notable...20€ payés alors qu'ils ont un tarif de 1,50€ de 19h à 8h !
Ça fait quand même une grosse différence ! L'information devrait être systématiquement donnée lors de l'arrivée.

I stayed at Royal Hôtel for 2 weeks in January 2025. It is located in the center of Caen, making everything easily accessible on foot. There is a free shuttle that takes you around town (hop on hop off) with a stop about 50 ft from the hotel. Right next door is the Brasserie Le Royal, with good food and obviously very convenient when you stay at the hotel and don't want to wander off too far.
The hotel is eco friendly in every aspect, including filtered water in the lobby, with caraffes available day and night. The hotel is very clean, the breakfast offers many options, and there is a bar downstairs, next to the lobby with a solid selection of wines and other spirits.
Most remarkable: the incredible staff! They are extremely friendly and professional, do their best to quickly tend to your needs, and man the lobby 24/7. In no particular order, I had the privilege of interacting with all these wonderful people: Estelle, Daphné, Dany, Damien, Servane, Laure and Mme Labrosse. They are all truly fantastic, first-class, five-star, and did all they could to make my stay memorable. Thank you ALL!!!

My stay at the hotel was fine, but not particularly memorable. The room was very small, with barely enough space to open a suitcase or move comfortably around the bed. What stood out most, unfortunately, were the rigid rules communicated by the hotel. For example, guests are required to register their preferred breakfast time in advance, with the warning that service might be refused otherwise. Additionally, housekeeping will not clean your room unless the “please make up my room” sign is placed on the doorknob by 11:00 a.m. sharp. These policies made the experience feel a bit unwelcoming.
The breakfast itself was standard for a French hotel: bread, jam, eggs, and coffee that left much to be desired. However, the fresh orange juice was a pleasant highlight.
Overall, while the hotel met basic expectations, the lack of flexibility and warmth left me underwhelmed.

Hotel in pieno centro a Caen. Camere pulite e decisamente confortevoli. Colazione ben organizzata sia con dolce che salato. Sicuramente un’ottima tre stelle che non ha nulla da invidiare a tanti 4 stelle. Personale estremamente gentile ed attento alle esigenze. Da ritornare sicuramente.

Super bien placé, près du centre. Chambre supérieure spacieuse avec literie de qualité. Salle de bain un peu chiche (un fond de savon dans le distributeur, un demi rouleau de papier toilette, finitions moyennes). Salle de petit déjeuner très froide, éclairage style néon et porte ouverte sur la rue malgré le gel… glacial! Par contre le personnel est très sympathique et serviable ! Nous avons apprécié notre séjour.

Hôtel très bien situé avec un personnel parfait ! Chambres relativement confortables pouvant accueillir deux adultes et deux enfants et/ou adolescents ! Nous avons séjourné dans une chambre avec un lit double et trois lits simples, très spacieuse et confortable avec deux salles de bains ! Les oreillers ne sont pas super et il n'y a pas de douche hygiénique dans le lavabo ! Le petit déjeuner était bon ! Enregistrement et départ rapides ! Dans l'ensemble, nous avons trouvé que c'était une bonne option et nous recommanderions l'hôtel !

Les chambres étaient agréables, propres et spartiates. Le personnel était serviable en anglais. La douche était petite mais semble être similaire à d'autres hébergements européens. Je sais qu'il s'agit d'une généralisation américaine. Ils nous ont permis d'utiliser le petit salon pour notre groupe et même la grande salle de petit déjeuner le soir. Le petit déjeuner était bien varié et savoureux. Fruits, yaourts, pains, brownies, jus et une excellente machine à café. Un irritant : nous avions réservé deux chambres. Mais dans la réservation, l'une était avec le petit déjeuner inclus et l'autre ne l'incluait pas. Lors de l'enregistrement, j'ai confirmé le petit-déjeuner pour tous les membres de notre groupe. Mais ils l'ont ajouté à la carte pour la seule chambre, même si l'erreur de réservation était évidente. Lorsque nous en avons discuté, il n'y a pas eu d'ajustement et la barrière de la langue est devenue plus pratique. Pour moi, c'est ce qui marque la marque de l'hôtel.
