When you enter you may wonder why all the salt shakers on the table are nearly empty and why there is salt spilled on the table. Well…wonder no more. The food is absolutely BLAND! I had the fish of the day and didn’t know it was possible for salmon and rice to be so tasteless until I entered Bistrot Jacques. I sincerely don’t know where the 4.9 review comes from. When you read the reviews you’ll realize they only mention the ambiance and don’t specifically mention the dishes.
In response to the owner: My critique was the food, I didn’t even mention the service. We were never offered bread with our meal but I was surprised to see it brought out with the dessert (maybe an afterthought?). Nor did we mention the very aggressive encounter with the waitress across the street, her presence disturbing you so much that you dropped some dishes on the floor and after speaking with you she slammed the door on her way out. No, it was simply on the food lacking taste and that one would have better luck buying an already prepared meal at the supermarket. Also, my intention is always to build up and leave 5 star reviews. If I’m unable to truthfully do that, then I usually don’t leave a review. However, if the meal is so terrible that I cannot in good conscience allow another tourist to spend their money there, then I am leaving a 2 star review. Just take the review with a “grain of salt” & don’t forget to refill the salt shakers while you’re at it. ????
