We wanted a good quality meal during our stay and booked here. The service was good and we liked all the little touches - canapés, muse-bouche. Our meal was good, not spectacular but enjoyable.

Three night stay in a very comfortable and clean room.|Large bathroom with walk in shower.|Old/classic lounge (Sapphire & tonic was €13)|Delicious restaurant (expensive)|Buffet breakfast was “ok”|Four levels - NO ELEVATOR|On-site parking - must arrange in advance|Convenient location - easy walk to everything.|Top-notch staff????

Gorgeous, comfortable stay in the cutest town in Normandy. Staff is friendly and helpful, rooms are nicely appointed and spacious, and there is parking. This is where you should stay

If the Lion d'Or were a person, it would be Brittany Spears: a hot mess. My wife and I chose the hotel in Bayeux because it was centrally located and had a bar and restaurant on the premises. The hotel is beautiful, to be sure, and the location is fine. But there were four major problems with the property: (1) it was understaffed. There was no bartender so the receptionist filled in when she could leave the front desk. And that wasn't often. (2) Although the property advertised the bar as an amenity, they literally kicked my wife and me out of the bar to hold 'private functions' ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS! (3) Management was invisible until I complained about the bar closure. Then the hotel manager stood inches from my face in a poor attempt to intimidate me and basically told me in a loud voice that he would do whatever he wanted. He refused us access to the bar but offered to serve my wife and I a drink in a small, claustrophobic sitting room with room for no more than four or six people. (Goody.) Overall, he was obnoxious, insensitive and crude. And lastly, (4) the restaurant itself was hardly open. And since it was closed at the same time the bar was closed for the 'private functions,' I asked the manager why that location wasn't used instead of the bar for the function? In response all I got was a stare and a 'humpf!' ||Avoid this property if you visit Bayeux. There are plenty of other hotels where they value their customer.
