We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff was bilingual (French and English) kind and extremely helpful. I do not know all their names but Virginie was extremely helpful, explaining the city, calling taxis, making dinner reservations, showing us around the room, etc. Merci beaucoup Virginia!

Une chambre agréable, bien équpée, propre et une literie au top.||un repas "accords mets vins" délicat, gourmand et préparé avec des produits frais de saison et de producteur locaux. Je me suis régalé.

Un accueil très professionnel et sympathique, une chambre hyper confortable et bien équipée.
Le menu "L'éveil des Sens" avec accord mets vins succulents, le service est très attentionné, efficace et fort sympathique.

My wife and I recently spent two weeks in Paris, during which I carved out a bucket list visit to the D-Day beaches in Normandy. We had the good fortune of selecting the excellent and ideally located Hotel Le Lion D’Or for a restful two night stay in Bayeux. Our “Comfort Room” was well appointed, spacious, and comfortable - also very clean. The staff was uniformly accommodating and friendly. The hotel’s genuine and significant relationship with local WW2 history (look it up) was value added for me. We would book again in a heartbeat, and will if Bayeux is part of our next trip to France.

I stayed here for four nights in October with my husband and we couldn't wait til we got out of this hotel. I really don't like to leave such bad reviews but really just want to inform others about the condition of this establishment.

We had a room on the top third floor. Our initial feeling was that the room is super tiny for two people staying for four nights. There was barely any room to walk around without bumping into each other. However, we had a great view from being on the top floor and thought we would probably have quiet nights. Well, we were so wrong. Every morning was a torture. We were either woken up by loud truck noises or guests chatting and in the courtyard area.

The most unsatisfying thing was the bed. It was just straight forward uncomfortable and hard. We felt like we were sleeping on a hardwood floor. And the carpet was pretty crummy. The stinch! The room smelled like there was mold. It was worse after the cleaner came through.

We had another couple of friends staying on the first floor and they didn't appear to have the issues we had. But if you are reading this review and planning on coming here, make sure you ask for anything other than the top floor. You also have to walk up three set of staircases. There is no elevator by the way. Yes this is nothing unusual in Europe but if you have heavy luggage, think twice about how much you can carry. The staff also insists they can help you by the way.

The big advantage here is that they have covered parking spaces allotted for guests. You can reserve that in advance. That was the biggest draw for us since we came to town by car. Additionally, our friends really wanted to stay here because some notable people stayed here in the past. My husband and I didn't even know that until we got here but in hindsight really felt like perhaps this place was just banking on that aspect. Or maybe they just forgot that they have upper floors to maintain??? On a brighter side, the staff is courteous.

I would not recommend this hotel based on our four night stay experience.

Really nice and quiet hotel in the heart of Bayeux, a nice welcome, large comfortable room. Fantastic dinner in the restaurant, creative association of textures and flavours and a great breakfast. We will go back.

Dinner night for tour party

Bon repas repas d'une cinquantaine de personnes servies avec des plats chauds et plus que correctes. Bravo !

Personnel très professionnel et accueillant. Le dîner avec accord mets /vins était excellent. Bémol pour la chambre mal insonorisée ( on entendait les pas et les voix des clients de la chambre au dessus de la nôtre).
Une petite musique d ambiance pourrait rendre le bar plus chaleureux.

L’hôtel situé en plein centre ville. Le restaurant de l’hôtel est délicieux, nous avons passé un très bon séjour et surtout bien mangé

Parfait

My husband and I spent four delightful nights at Le Lion d'Or.|We loved everything about it. Our bed was incredibly comfortable, our room beautiful as well as quiet. Breakfast was a large spread of delicious foods (the pear tart is a must if available). The staff were warm and welcoming. Parking can be a bit tricky because so limited, but just plan on allowing a few extra minutes to sort things out if necessary. We can't wait to stay at the Lion d'Or again.

From location to atmosphere and accommodations, this hotel was top notch. Would definitely recommend and stay here again!

We did not stay at the hotel, we dined there.

The service was painfully slow and borderline rude. When asking the sommelier about the Croze-Hermitage she said it was strong and the server said it was fruity. It was neither.

The sea bream was good but the accompanying sides were bland. My friends dish was served cold. She sent it back and got the sea bream. The restaurant wanted to charge her for both. They eventually took it off.

Between the poor service and average food, I would not return nor recommend this restaurant.

Visited for lunch and it was excellent and great value.

Service à revoir avec des boissons réclamées deux fois après la commande
Près d une heure d attente pour le service de l entrée.

L’adjectif « gastronomique » n’est pas vraiment adapté à ce restaurant. Le service n’est pas à la hauteur. Par exemple il faut s’y reprendre à plusieurs reprises avant d’obtenir des couverts pour commencer un plat déjà servi. Les quantités peuvent être microscopiques pour les poissons (entrée et plats). En revanche plutôt copieux pour le filet de bœuf. Cette prestation décevante s’explique peut être par la clientèle très touristique. Nous avons été mieux reçus dans un restaurant beaucoup plus modeste dans la même rue …

très bon repas. environnement calme et agréable. et nous avons été accueillis par le lion lui-même.

Une expérience exceptionnelle, à recommander sans hésitation ! Des mets succulants, un service impeccable, un rapport qualité/prix indiscutable, un cadre rafiné, un emplacement parfait avec un plus un parking : tous le ingrédients étaient réunis pour nous assurer un moment magique et reposant en famille.

Tres bon accueil (avec 4 enfants, pas toujours gagné) le menu était très fin, et accord mets-vins superbe.
