During our recent trip to Budapest, we decided to venture beyond the city limits to explore Memento Park, a treasure trove of monuments from Hungary's communist era. And let me tell you, it was an experience like no other.

While it is interesting to see old statues brought to one place, the museum feels only half complete, most of the platforms are empty, waiting for their statue that might never arrive. Considering the 3.000HUF entry fee plus the fact that it's quite far from the capital, so requires some travel too, only worth visiting if you're enthusiastic about the socialist era, out of things to see or happen to be nearby.

Only 40 minutes from the centre of Budapest, the park is a remarkable history lesson .It will last in my memory for a long time - despite it clearly being short of funds.
