we booked and spent 2 wonderful nights at this hotel. The rooms are comfortable, sleep in the hotel was wonderful. But our stay at the hotel was spoiled by one circumstance. Our stay at the hotel included 2 free dinners. During registration, I asked the reception desk about this, but the employee who conducted our registration replied that he knew nothing about it. I asked him again and with a look of disbelief he thrust 2 coupons for breakfast (not dinner) into our hands. We decided to go to the hotel restaurant and buy food for dinner. We spent over $80 that we didn't plan on spending on food. The hotel manager did not help us in any way, although we approached him with a request for a refund of money for dinner. Be careful, don't trust that you will be fed in the evening

With reference to the negative aspects reported on your part, you can be sure that we have carried out the corresponding verifications, so we would like to clarify that your reservation actually included dinners for the 2 nights of stay, at our Anfora Restaurant, however, you took dinner at the El Rancho restaurant, so consumption had to be charged separately.

Stayed here for a night after and before our flights to/from San Jose, arranged by a package holiday provider. For that reason, it's hard to criticise something you have no expectation of or paid for directly. Having said that, our lasting experience of our stay was far from how the hotel presents itself. It is a sheep in worn wolf's clothing.
Although we were upgraded due to the hotel being over booked, we didnt really benefit from the larger room and it was a little concerning to be overbooking. There were numerous problems with the room, but I won't go into those.
The hotel describes it's pool as heated, this is far from the truth. It was the coldest pool we experienced during our 2 week, 5 hotel trip and the only one to describe it's pool as heated.
We booked a massage with their connected spa, both of us were left a little disappointed with that experience too.
We liked the look of their Japanese restaurant, but they informed us that salmon, tuna and shrimp were not available. As most of the offerings were sushi related, this deminished their options. We then went to their other restaurant, but they said the whole room was booked for a group. Unfortunately, the hotel is a little isolated from everything else in the capital, so we were left with the only option of sitting outside and ordering from the menu. Not exactly the worst thing, but a little frustrating when the restaurant was never more than 25% full at any time.
The food wasn't great either to be honest. The ribs were barely edible at best.
Now, to get to our main gripe with our stay; the effect it has had on our insides. The food poisoning both of us received is the worst we've ever experienced. Not the best way to begin a 20 hour journey back home. A whole day later and we are still suffering from this.
If given the choice, I'd recommend choosing an alternative stay in the capital.
