Beautiful old hotel in the heart of Zagreb. I stay here whenever I visit and have lived here for months at a time. Great location. Rooms are large (we book the Royal Suite when we stay). Decor is a bit dated at this point but everything else makes up for the experience.
Staff are very professional (front desk, cleaning and restaurants). Food is fantastic and on par or better than other 5-star hotels around the world.
Gym isn’t great but sauna is great to have. Everything is clean.

We stayed at the Esplanade for our wedding day celebration, and it was an amazing experience. The beautiful and well preserved building is very atmospheric and relaxing. Our whole experience from check-in to to check-out was flawless, thanks to professional, kind and helpful staff. We would especially like to mention the concierges Monika and Santiago who both made sure of our comfort and that our stay was memorable.

Service and staff at the bar and breakfast restaurants are very slow, unfriendly and uninterested in catering to the guests. Apart from that, lovely hotel.
Feel of early 20th century is supported by the fact that this hotel operates for almost 100 years.
Rooms are large and Esplanade offers the best pillows I’ve ever laid my head on.
Food is just superb, the bar offers amazing experience, location is very central.
I come here regularly for business and each time it feels like I have treated myself with something special.
Gym is not very big but perfectly thought out.
