We stayed 3 nights at Kilimbilio as first stop on our southern Tanzania trip. It is a great base to visit the UNESCO world heritage sites Kilwa Kisiwani and Songo Mnara, (half) day trips are easily organised at the lodge. The lodge is practically on the beach, which is quiet during the day but late in the afternoon it comes to life with families from the nearby fishing village on their afternoon stroll and children swimming in the sea, all with a very calm vibe. You can watch the dhows and canoes returning to the small harbour from the deck. Food is amazing, we had fresh fish, lobster and octopus. Highly recommended.
