A really nice, small beachfront hotel with staff that are extremely friendly. Perfect as a base for going out swimming, local tours and sightseeing trips. You can snorkel straight from the beach at medium or high tide, but the best snorkeling is at Mnemba atol (we went with Kinchangajaku Tours situated in the adjacent village who were brilliant). We went in August, and the temperature was perfect the whole way through.

The room was spacious and comfortable, but practically open to the outside. The few nights we stayed here, there happened to be a storm with very strong winds, and since the doors were basically blinds, and the windows had no glass (just a cutout filled with an insect mesh). It was very noisy and cold at night due to this. Above the doors to balcony, it was all open with insect mesh too. Literally open to the outside. So you couldn't close your doors and windows in such conditions even if you wanted to. During the day when it was hot, the lack of air conditioning in the room made it difficult to rest.

What makes up for this was the service. Absolutely amazing staff, who are all friendly and welcoming. A special thank you to Kilosay, the hotel manager. He went out of his way to welcome us with complementary massages and coconuts!

The quiet, private beach was also very nice to relax in. Far away from the tourist traps.

Overall pretty decent, could be improved with real doors and air conditioning.

We loved the atmosphere around this small hotel. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was very fresh and tasty, considering we are in Africa (we have had much worse in other places). Coffee is instant everywhere in Tanzania, so that was a bit of a bummer. In terms of location there is absolutely nothing close by, if you want crowded beaches you should not stay here, go to Nungwi or Kendwa or any of those other tourist traps where you will be harassed any time by people selling stuff or offering other services ????
We loved the three small pools here to refresh ourselves and went looking for shells on the private beach. There is a bus going to the beach about every hour if you want to go somewhere else and you can hire a driver to take you to the turtle pool, the prison island, the herb gardens and everything else on the island. If you want to go diving, a driver will pick you up to take you to Divepoint at the Sunshine Marine Lodge.
So if you're looking for a quiet place to relax after your safaris or whatever, this is definitely the place to go.... Really worth it! I would go right back!

Accueil très chaleureux et très poli. Musique d'ambiance très apprécié. Cuisine excellente et variée. Jardins de l'hôtel et les piscine idyllique. Accès à la plage immédiat.
