Quick Summary: Our Altezza guide team went above and beyond in providing a safe, logistically smooth, and very personal and memorable experience climbing Kilimanjaro. I can’t speak highly enough of their team!

Altezza hits it out of the park on the big wins: safety, logistics, and expertise. Their guides conducted twice daily health checks, measuring blood oxygen to ensure we were acclimating appropriately and they had medication ready to cover any malady. On summit day they carried oxygen as a safety measure that I found necessary after experiencing altitude sickness and the team even provided to another suffering climber whose guides were not carrying oxygen. Not all guide services have these safety measures!

The logistics flow was impressive from the get-go with airport and hotel shuttles. The camp logistics on-mountain was even more so. We’d depart camp after breakfast, they’d have tea and snacks set up along the trail, we’d arrive at lunch to find the mess tent already set up with lunch ready, just to find it and our sleeping tents set up again at the end of the hike with tea and popcorn waiting and dinner shortly to follow. The consideration that the porter team put into our comfort was overwhelming.

The expertise on the team was unquestionable. Altezza clearly takes hiring very seriously and recruits knowledgeable guides. Professionals across the board who we greatly trusted.

With the big wins checked off in style, Altezza goes above and beyond with personal touches that make the trip truly memorable. I think most memorable for us was the tradition and ceremony that the team brought to the experience - celebratory group singing and dancing especially, even cakes and champagne! Then small things like hot water bottles to keep sleeping bags warm really made us feel well cared for.

A few personal call-outs to wrap up:

Joshua was our lead guide and the utmost professional. It was readily apparently how deftly he led a large team (22 porters to our 5 hikers). On summit day, I struggled a lot with the altitude, but Joshua went above and beyond to ensure that I was able to safely make it to the summit, conducting medical checks en route and fueling us all up through to the top. Thanks coach!

Agrey was one of our other guides and was steady as a rock. He kept a very close watch over me as a dealt with altitude on summit day and was wonderful in managing the group and pace on every day leading up to summit. Thank you Agrey!

Hamsa, our third guide, was perhaps our most energetic. He spent an entire day with one of our hikers’ cameras scampering between rocks to get the best possible pictures of our experience (we even spotted him on the opposite side of the valley getting a long-range shot before he popped up with us not a moment later!). On summit day, he personally escorted me back down the mountain after my bout of altitude sickness. Thank you Hamsa!

Musa was one of our summit porters and carried everything from my bag to hot tea to oxygen for us. He then carried my bag all the way down the mountain and further. He even gave me his own rain pants to keep me dry. He also pulled out a Santa outfit from nowhere for fun on the summit. Thank you, Musa - you are incredibly considerate and generous!

Frankie served us all of our food and was as charming a personality as you could imagine. He pushed food on us better than any grandmother I’ve met to keep us well-fueled. A great dancer and performer during the traditions, signing, and dancing that were so memorable too! Thank you Frankie!

I read google reviews and booked a Kili climb. The operator and their team is rock solid. They took care of every person including their own team. Highly recommend!

If it wasn't for Altezza Travel I would not have summited Mount Kilimanjaro! I spent about two weeks in Tanzania and did a private safari and Kilimanjaro hike with Altezza. They helped plan everything and ensured that the trip went smoothly. The safari was incredible and my friend and I got to see all of the Big Five! Hiking up Kilimanjaro with Altezza was hassle-free; the guides and porters were exceptional, and ensured that we were properly acclimatized. Every day we were fed hot meals, had medical check-ups, and had time to rest. Would love to hike it again next year!

Just finished a climb to Kilimanjaro through Machame route with them. Stanley and his team took perfect care of us - even through some rainy days. There was always hot tea on the way and a bed-bottle at night. Food was amazing - fresh fruit and veggies every day. And all of us made it to the summit - first group and right in time for sunrise.
