1903 年，让-巴蒂斯特-巴尔古因（Jean-Baptiste Bargoin）在克莱蒙费朗（Clermont-Ferrand）花费 20 万法郎创建了这座博物馆。直至 2024 年，该博物馆将拥有两个不同的部门：一个专门从事古文字学和古罗马文化研究，另一个专门从事世界纺织品研究。从几年前开始，博物馆就不再专注于克莱蒙托瓦兹市的考古和历史。在改建期间，只有在一个新的雕像上展示的罗什之源的旧照片还能看到。目前正在组织参观博物馆的活动。

The quantity and quality of the displays is really impressive and the staff are really friendly and helpful making for a nice experience.
The entrance fee is very reasonable and I would say allow up to two hours for a proper look around or an hour or so for a quick look.
I would say that it is a Medium sized museum judging by the museums I have visited in the past.
There is also some fabrics etc on display on the upper floor if this is of interest.
In my opinion well worth a visit.
