CASA ELLUL

This hotel is simply a gem in the heart of Valetta run by Matthew Ullul and his amazing international experienced and kind staff, including Sabrina from Argentina, Rose from the Philippines, Peter from Austria, and many others. The rooms are spacious and quiet. The service is impeccable. The restaurant Risette with its chef Steve Scicluna is quite something else. We ate there twice as the food was exceptional with many dishes reaching Michel star level, even though Risette does not even have a recommendation in the Michelin Guide, let alone a star. Well, it was our gain! Risette has an interesting wine list and a very varied, original menu, predominantly with French influences, but not overly heavy, and serious value for money. Most dishes are not only an angel for one's palate, but also aesthetically beautiful to look at. We will be back in Malta later this year, if only to stay at Casa Ullul and eat at Risette!! Thank you Matthew, Steve, Sabrina, Rose, Peter and all others of making our stay unforgettable.

We just got back from a lovely vacation, spending a total of 8 nights at Casa Ellul.
This hotel gets five stars for their exceptional service.
Everyone- and I mean EVERYONE that works here- is unbelievably kind and friendly and they are all very eager to help.
Malta is a beautiful destination anyway but the people that work at this hotel made our trip so much better. From making arrangements at the local gym nearby (so we could get day passes there) to making last minute dinner reservations, they really went out of their way to help us. Highly recommended!

Great location - we loved the breakfast!
Great small hotel with just a few rooms, all furnished in a special and modern way, which is an exciting contrast to the old building. The most striking element is certainly the terrace of two suites with a view of the dome of the church opposite, which seems to tower just an arm's length away, incredibly impressive. The only negative is that the furniture and cushions on the roof top terrace could not be used since they were wet and mouldy and had pigeon dirt. The rooms except for the 2 rooftop suites are way too loud due to the noise and acoustics on the street and the windows which do not close.

Simply a wonderful experience. Despite my extremely late arrival, in the middle of the night, I received a warm welcome in this both cosy and extravagant hotel. It is undoubtedly the unexpected eclectic mixture of styles combined with the warm hospitality that changed this visit into something unforgettable. The spacious bedroom (announced as suite) is very tastefully equipped with all one needs for a short stay in the city. Free coffee, tea and water,combined with the luxurious bedding linen, great furniture and decoration, a well filled bar, a great and huge bathroom, all possible details... Perfect. The breakfast is à la carte and served by a staff that makes you feel welcome. Hard to beat! An unexpected experience for a very attractive price ! I really enjoyed my stay.
