Simply said, this hotel is great! From top to bottom. Location, facilities, customer service, room, food, atmosphere, etc. We just got back from a weeklong trip and could not have been happier. Robin and Kathleen were so accommodating in helping us celebrate a special birthday. A special thanks to them for all their help! I could not recommend this hotel and Carmel more highly.

I came with my husband for our anniversary. We came at 12 and didn’t expect to get a room. So we put our luggage with the bell boy. Now it’s 5pm and still no room. The official check in time is at 4pm. They told me they will text me. Nothing. My husband went to check on it at 4:30pm and they told him they waiting for room to get clean. They offered us to cover our lunch and drinks but nothing came from it. We didn’t want that we want better service.

I think this was my favorite hotel I have ever stayed at! the grounds and rooms are gorgeous, the service is excellent, the breakfast buffet is delicious. 3 minutes walk to the gorgeous beach or 8 minute walk into town for dinner. Couldn't be more ideal.

Came here for my birthday. The hotel is very cute with nice grounds, game room, restaurant and lobby. We had a very pleasant time. Easy to walk to the town or beach. The only issue is we felt the room was small.

It's a lovely property with room to roam and pockets of charm everywhere you look. The location puts a short distance from the beach and a short but welcome distance from the hustle and bustle of the main commercial district. The staff was gracious and welcoming. I look forward to going back soon

I can't pick the right adjectives...let's go with, quaint, beautiful (gardens, building, interior) with an abundance of friendly staff everywhere. Feels like a charming Mediterranean getaway fitting the European feel of wonderful Carmel by the Sea.

Spent a rainy weekend celebrating our 30th anniversary at the place we got married. The front desk staff made us feel welcomed, management had upgraded our room to the same suite we stayed in on our wedding night (how freaking nice was that!?!?!) and had a bottle of champagne on ice and a fruit basket ready in our room. The rain would have been a bummer if we weren't at La Playa! The covered and heated outdoor patio overlooking the gardens at Bud's was a great place to eat, drink and just be at peace.

Oh and the afternoon free Sangria bar and evening chocolate chip cookies (to die for cookies btw) were very nice..especially in Carmel where the weather can be unpredictable and sometimes staying put is the best option.

6/5* and we'll celebrate our anniversary at La Playa again!

Oh! And the included breakfast buffet at Bud's was luxurious, unique in selection and the best included hotel breakfast we've ever experienced! Definitely don't sleep in and miss breakfasts at La Playa!

One of the best hidden gems I’ve ever been to! Such a quaint, gorgeous hotel with beautiful views, wonderful food, and fantastic service. I was so pleasantly surprised. It was a beautiful place, in a great location, and truly, the website does not do it justice. I highly recommend!!!!

Great location in Carmel, dog friendly and it has a FABULOUS breakfast each morning.

This is a remarkable property that feels like its out of another era in every way. Adored our stay -- the place was recently remodeled, with no expense spared. Highly recommend.

A great hotel located a short walk from the beach in Carmel and awesome restaurants. The service was over the top. We'll definitely stay here again in the future. Dog friendly.

Beautiful hotel in the heart of town. Bar is lively and gorgeous. Take a late walk in the gardens and sit and watch the stars. Romantic and chic!

Hotel property itself is beautiful but the rooms are a little lacking at the price point. Our room was around $500 per night ocean view and in need of light restoration; not sure about other rooms. We were also placed in a handicap accessible room (did not request) which may have contributed to the use of space / furniture. All interactions with staff with pleasant - we didn’t require much on our stay!
