Truly excellent option to go queue up, make an efficient order from a broad set of selections, and enjoy the tastiest banh mi sandwich at the best price I've seem anywhere in the Bay Area. Sometimes the line is long and sometimes it isn't, but the staff work quickly and the sandwiches are really great. Pick some up for a picnic or just grab some to take home and you won't regret it. I like that there's good parking out back too so I can just get in and get out without extra hassles.

Nice little banh mi shop with everything decently priced. I got the banh mi thit nuong and honestly wasn’t my favorite — didn’t get what I was expecting for the meat. But they also have a lot of other goodies like bánh tiêu, bánh bột lọc, and spring rolls. Take out only of course.

Loved the ham and meatball with egg. Bread was super crunchy and soft all at the same time. Sandwich was cheap,full of flavor, and delicious. Also got the shredded pork which was just meh and the shrimp app which was different. The Vietnamese coffee is not overly sweet and liked it a lot. The area is about what you would expect, but it was fine going mid day. Place was busy, but the line moves quick and there was plenty of street parking at 1pm on a Friday right out front. Egg with meatball was not a combo I was expecting, but the 2 flavors we’re delicious together. Would return. Cash and credit card accepted (3.9% fee for credit).

This is my family’s go to Banh Mi shop and we have been coming here for over 20+ years. We were extremely surprised to find out that 3 sandwiches, 1 bánh cuốn and 2 eggrolls costed $51. They do not provide itemized receipts so we are unsure if the prices went up and they did not update their menu prices or they charged us incorrectly.

Wasn't open; Google says "Temporarily closed". But as of Nov 28, sign on door says, "Closed until Dec 15, 2023". Will try again.

Favorite Banh Mi spot in the Bay Area north of Vietnam Town in San Jose. They have an absurd amount of options, cheaper prices, fast service, quality smoothies, and solid Vietnamese style coffee. The staff are friendly and they offer free parking in the back. The only con is they're only open Fri-Sun until 3pm-3:30pm so expect a line although it'll go by quickly.

Best banh mi in Oakland - when they’re actually open. I know they are only open Friday through Sundays now. Went by today (Saturday) and guess what? They are closed till December 15th smh.

Great banh mi sandwiches that are extremely affordable (~$6)! Customer service was great but requires some effort to receive because of how busy the business is. We catered about 15 sandwiches, fresh spring rolls, papaya salad and shrimp spring rolls for under $160. Had to order in-person because I had no luck trying to order by phone but definitely worth the effort.

I was under the impression that Banh Mi Ba le had some of the best Vietnamese sandwiches in the Bay Area. I think the banh mi at Huong Lan and Duc Huong in San Jose are a lot better, with more meat and better bread. Ba Le might be the best in East Bay, but I recommend heading down to San Jose for the best banh mi.

Location is a bit sketchy, so bring a capable friend if you're not used to International Blvd and the sketchy parts of the East Bay.

But it's literally the best bahn mi I've ever had and at a much affordable price compared to what I've been getting in the south bay. The #2 special combo is a must, great meat and veggie ratio, and perfect filling to bun ratio. FYI it's going to scratch your mouth as you eat it. Came at ~10:30AM on Saturday, so I recommend budgeting ~20 mins for your order here. It seems like there's always a line and everyone is ordering 6-8 sandwiches at a time. But it's all worth the wait.

If you're looking to get some of their premade items, don't be afraid to check them out near the pickup area first. Grab one or a few, and then line up to put in your sandwich order and pay. I see a lot of cash only mentions, but they do accept credit card now.

Been going here for fifteen years and the flavor is still as good as ever. Sandwiches are about $6 and tax so $7 each? A little bit more for fancy stuff like adding a fried egg. They have the usual like egg rolls, grilled meat, Vietnamese coffee, smoothies.

I ordered the #2 special combo ham sandwich and it was insanely good. The baguette was crispy and soft. The sandwich was seasoned perfectly. I also tried the Thai tea which was great too! Service was super quick.

Food is almost always good but the service, line, and parking can be hit or miss.

We always get a few sandwiches, grab a random tray from the counter and maybe an iced Vietnamese coffee, and always enjoy them. Grilled chicken (#18) and meatball with egg (#13) are our go-to's.

Parking can be a pain, even with the lot in the back, and the neighborhood is sketch, and like the rest of the city, getting worse by the day. The service is normally good but they seem to get occasionally annoyed if you ask questions.

What bugs me is there aren't prices for anything posted, besides the sandwiches, and those seem to be one of those things that annoy them when you ask.

Either way, still good prices for great banh mi's and highly recommend you try if you haven't before.

Banh Mi Ba Le in Oakland offers the ultimate Banh Mi experience. I tried their #2 Special Combo Ham Sandwich with extra pate, and it surpassed all expectations. The flavors of ham, head cheese, and pork paste were perfectly balanced and made it the best Banh Mi in the area. Keep in mind, they only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Cash only!
If you're craving a delicious Banh Mi, I highly recommend Banh Mi Ba Le. You won't be disappointed!

Very fast service.
I ordered 8 banh mis and got my order pretty fast, maybe because it wasn’t busy ????‍♀️ they have a huge selection of banh mi from pork, beef and chicken to tofu, sunny side egg and seafood. They also have other food such as eggrolls and spring rolls on the side.

Although the location is in a sketchy area, they have their own parking lot located behind the building. I was happy I was able to try this place (I’m not from the area).

Banh mi were good. Most banh mi are about $5.60. Would def coke again when I’m in the area.
