Been coming here for business lunches and dinners for years. Happy Hour is fun as well. There have been many staff changes over the years but the location is unparalleled in downtown and the food has stayed consistent. The foie gras appetizers are solid and the seafood entrees usually hit. Service is good but parking sucks. You’ll pay a fortune in the garage if you go that route.

We ordered two Ny steaks (medium) and were disappointed in them, they were both burnt on the outside. The pork chops and drinks (cocktails) were very good.

Our latest visit was our best dining experience of 2023. We started with the Corn Soup, presented as a pour over, smooth and rich with fall flavors. For one main we had the Halibut, grilled delicately on a bed of deliciousness too complicated to explain. For the other main, Pork Tenderloin, easily the best I can remember. Massive wine list, excellent cocktails.
Exceptional setting, exceptional service, exceptional food. Excellent choice for a special date night. Easy access with MUNI.

I had the pastrami Reuben with potato salad. Meat to cheese ratio was way off, too much meat, not enough sauce, and it was served on regular toast, not rye or marbled rye like a Reuben should be served. Should just change the name to a toasted pastrami/swiss sandwich with slaw. The potato salad just tasted of potato and a hint of red onion, another pass.
We also had the fried chicken with mashed? Potatoes and Cole slaw. The chicken had 0(zero) flavor, and the breading tasted just of flour. Chicken could have been brined more. Bland and greasy. It should have been served with BBQ sauce, hot sauce, or heaven forbid, ketchup. The mashed potatoes could have been eaten with a straw they were so runny. They presented as "creme of mashed potatoes " sad.
Almost forgot about the latkes. More like Hash brown patties served with sour creme and apple sauce???
Oscar was super nice and welcoming. My lady really loved his presence and attitude!!! Our waiter recommended a very good wine and was very professional. The servers were very pleasant and super kind.
If you want fried chicken, go to KFC.
If you want a Reuben, head to one of many dell's in the area, this place isn't it for either.
$100 for those is ridiculous.

Convenient location for happy hour, esp. given the extremely limited choices in the area.
However beware there's only one beer on the happy hour menu. (Luckily that happens to be Anchor Steam!)
The chickpea fries were very good.
Hostess was friendly. But our waiter was either having a bad day for just not interested in customers. So the service was quite poor.

Big Sandwich my arse. Went for the first time sat a bar, no customers at bar and dining room was getting busy. Ordered Traditional Romanian Hot Pastrami. It was neither Big or Hot and my french fries cold. Spent an hour of my time waiting on a cold meal only to leave their without eating. I should have gone across the street gotten a bigger, hotter meal for half the cost.

Don't fall for the Big Sandwich label they aren't that big. Not worth the price they are charging. Go around the cornet to STK much better atmosphere, service and food.

One of my most favorite restaurants in San Francisco financial district. I love the food and the quality of service. More importantly the atmosphere is supportive for business. We walk a mile to get there and it was worth it. The brisket was excellent and my client has the burger. Wonderful portions and the beverages were sweet. The waiter was the right balance of attention and barely interrupted our discussions. Business or pleasure it’s a great place.

Never had a dish I was disappointed in. Staff is friendly and attentive. Kids menu options are pretty good portioned. Pastrami is sooo good. Fired chicken and prime rib big enough to share and super delicious.
Live piano every Fri and Sat.
Regular spot for us after any fidi activities.
