SOLANA BEACH MAURITIUS

Apres 2 semaines passées au solana ,
Hotel à taille humaine, chambres un peu vieillottes, mais confortables..vue sur le lagon magnifique ! merci à Latita pour sa gentilesse et l entretien de notre chambre. Buffet correct , mais rien d extraordinaire et assez répétitif ...
Personnel agréable et serviable. Au final, nous avons passé un bien agréable séjour dans cet hôtel....même si il est situé dans une zone un peu isolée..Regine et Thierry

Bel hôtel, mais les chambres ont vraiment besoin d’un rafraîchissement . Le buffet est bon. Loin de tout, pour se déplacer, pas le choix de prendre un taxi.

We stayed at Solana for 7 nights in September for our Honeymoon. This was our first time in Mauritius. We arrived quite late in the evening, and the lady who assisted us upon check-in was lovely, and gave us a good breakdown of the resort. However we found that the staff at reception for the rest of our stay were quite unfriendly.
We had a ground level room facing the ocean, and the view is spectacular. Our room was standard, but overall comfortable and clean. Our shower door leaked at the bottom due to ill-fitting doors, but we made do.
Our house keeper Veena put a smile on my face every day. What a wonderful attentive lady. Each day she left us with a beautiful note and folded towels in swans, dogs and elephants, and on the day of my birthday she just made my day. Veena is 1 in a million and I can't stress enough what a difference it makes to have a house-keeper with a personal, caring touch.
We were on full-board, so all food was inclusive, but we paid for our drinks. The food is good, and served as a buffet 3 times a day, but a little more variety is recommended. The drinks we found to be expensive, and bottled water comes at quite a hefty price too. We requested ice in our room on 2 separate occasions and paid heftily for ice. This should be free to guests, considering there are no ice-trays available in the bar fridges.
For my birthday we had a candle-light dinner in the Gazebo, and we absolutely loved this experience, the food and effort put in by the staff was excellent, I highly recommend booking this. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, there are great water activities available, the beach and sea is magnificent, but I do recommend taking water shoes with, as there is a lot of coral in the swimming area, and on the beach.
For those that are wanting to go on day trips, the resort is quite a distance away from everything, and taxi's are expensive. The buses also do not pass through this area.
The pool and bar area are really nice too. This resort is definitely perfect if you are looking for relaxation above everything.
Lastly, there was an adorable stray cat on the premises while we were there, as an animal lover, I was delighted to have him greeting us on the pathways, and strolling through the buffet area to say hi. I know this is not for everyone, but I do hope that Solana is being kind to him, a resort with a friendly resident cat has a warmth to it, and they do help keep the pests away.
