MAISON PAPAYE

Marie-Helene is the ultimate host. She is so welcoming and helpful. She provided tips on where to visit in Mauritius. She organised a hire car which is advisable as there are no taxis easily available in the area and taxis are not cheap in Mauritius. The breakfast was wonderful and plentiful. Also they were really good with food allergens. The room itself was big and has really good air conditioning. I don't understand the previous reviews, this was by far the most comfortably air conditioned room I stayed in on my trip and this is in comparison to 5 star hotels. The house is well located to visit many of the sights in mauritius. My only disappointment is that we never got to have any dinner with Marie-Helene and try home made mauritian food - more guests are required than were staying. For warm hospitality, comfortable accommodation and a good location to base yourself from, I would highly recommend maison papaye.

Un séjour incroyable ! Marie-Hélène et Philippe sont des hôtes très agréable et pleins de conseils pour vos visites sur l’île. La maison est splendide, les chambres ainsi que le jardin et les extérieurs sont magnifiques et très propre. Nous recommandons ce logement pour votre futur voyage à l’île Maurice. Les petits déjeuner sont très bon et très copieux.

The room was 30 degrees centigrade even with the air conditioning on 17 degrees and fan on maximum. The shower head kept falling on me and splashing all the water through the glass shower door onto the floor. We didn't stay to find out what else was wrong. We got the heck out of there, after the host pretended it was "freezing" in the room.

Colonial style B&B with large swimmingpool. Very kind landlord and staff, good breakfast served at the veranda, speciel tropical feeling. Nice room.
