Musée intéressant, il a l'air très bien. Belle présentation du navire et de la maison à l'intérieur. Beaucoup de lecture, un peu trop. Il y aurait 4-5 étoiles s'il y avait plus d'activités interactives au lieu de la lecture. Nous avons regardé le film pour les enfants et nous en avons appris plus qu'en lisant tous les textes.... Ils n'étaient pas très engageants. Entrée gratuite.

Lieu d'extrême importance puisque vestige quasi unique au monde relatant de l'engagisme, ce statut de transition qui a eu lieu juste avant l'abolition de l'esclavagisme. Ce sont presque 500 000 personnes qui sont passés par ce point de triage et d'accueil, et qui sont devenus les ancêtres de 70% de la population mauricienne, si l'on en croit les chiffres...

Notre guide gastronomique (Dourvesh, Port Louis Street Food City Tour) nous a fait visiter les lieux et nous a vraiment donné vie. Je recommande vivement une visite pour comprendre l'histoire des gens, la nourriture et la culture de l'île Maurice.

J'y suis allée avec quelques amis, juste pour visiter. (L'entrée est gratuite)
J'ai bien aimé ce moment où j'ai appris un peu plus sur l'origine de mes ancêtres.
À mon grand étonnement, il y avait beaucoup à apprendre. Et aussi de belles infrastructures à l'intérieur du bâtiment.

Ce site est classé au patrimoine mondial de l'Humanité. La visite libre et gratuite explique clairement de façon didactique ce qui s'est passé après l'abolition de l'esclavage, avec l'arrivée en ce lieu, des travailleurs volontaires ( les engagés).

A must (and free) visit while in Port Louis, if not Mauritius, this very informative museum and archeological site tells the story of the ancestors of 70% of the island's population, indentured labourers brought to the island primarily from India. Indeed, the English started the "experiment" of indentured servitude in earnest in Mauritius after abolishing the genocidal crime of slavery in the early 19th century. You'll learn this and much more here. I do wish that the museum shared more about the resistance by indentured labourers to the practice's many injustices and to their efforts to have the system abolished in the early 20th century. Still, the site is a very worthy visit. Don't forget to visit also the Museum on Transcontinental Slavery next door!

Edifici ben tenuti ristrutturati da poco. Visita semplice adatta anche a bambini. Poco pratica per i disabili per via delle barriere architettoniche obsolete. L’edificio risale a fine 1700 ha ha subito una forte riqualificazione.

The Apravasi Ghat is of very much traditional importance to Mauritius. There is no fee for entry and there is free parking also. However, the place is only open till 4pm so plan accordingly. The place is renovated and provides a very good spectacle of the history of the island and its people. People are very friendly here. There is a Slavery museum and a post office museum also nearby here. A small booth for souvenirs is also available though I would personally recommend to buy souvenirs from the post office museum
