LES 3 DÔMES

I dined at Les 3 Domes last night with a party of 13. We reserved in advance, sent our dinner orders in advance and confirmed our arrival. We had high hopes for this night out together at such a well respected restaurant. The experience was not a positive one. We were sat and waited for an hour with only water, no drink order was taken. Once aperitifs were ordered and arrived our pre ordered menu items arrived and were auctioned off as if they didn't know who ordered what. Entrees arrived in the same fashion and still we were never asked if we wanted to order wine or any other drinks. At this point we spoke with the manager about these issues and though he was apologetic, the staff proceeded to ignore us for at least another 30/40 mins. And still, no one came to take orders on bottles of wine or drinks. The desserts came in a more organized way, thankfully. And again we were left with no service for a time until desserts were finished and then we were asked if we wanted coffees, which, at that point, we did not. I think we all could have walked away from this annoyed but ok with the evening, but then the nail was pressed in. As we left and asked for our coats, our waiter, who at this point had showed clear annoyance about our complaint with his lack of service, grabbed all of our coats from a pile placed on the floor, and handed them ALL (13) to me. He stood there while I struggled to keep them from falling on the floor and others in my group came to help out. He stood there watching, right in front of me, for the whole ordeal, doing nothing. Now, you might be wondering how the food was, and I wish I could say it made up for this terrible lack of any professional service, but alas, it did not. It was not wholly bad, the veal was delicious as was the soufflé. The rest was not nearly at the level a restaurant of this acclaim should be. I truly hope this is not how they operate regularly as it was unfortunate that we had to experience this.

Plutôt déçue de l’expérience globale, un rapport qualité/prix qui n’y est pas, un service moyen (un anniversaire signalé pour lequel nous n’avons eu aucun geste, une demande d’adaptation des amuses bouche pour cause d’allergie non acceptée, donc finalement pas d’amuses bouches, des erreurs sur l’addition). Lyon est truffé de bons petits restaurants gastronomiques indépendants, plus innovants et savoureux, passez votre tour pour celui-ci :)

The food was underwhelming - not bad but also not great. We ate here during our stay at Sofitel, and probably should have gotten a reservation. Without a reservation, they place you in an inner seat away from the windows, which is a shame as there were many vacant seats that were not taken during our entire meal.

The flavor profiles of the dishes aired on the sweet side. The scallops with butternut and chestnut almost bordered on a dessert with how sweet the sauces and sides are. I somewhat enjoyed it, but the sweetness was a bit overpowering - it needed something to balance out the dish. The bread is quite good. The octopus yuzukosho was nice and a refreshing starter.

Niché au sommet de l’hôtel Sofitel, ce lieu offre une vue imprenable sur Lyon. Chaque plat est un véritable chef-d’œuvre, alliant créativité, finesse et saveurs parfaitement équilibrées. Le service est irréprochable (mention spéciale pour Christian qui a su supporter les grincheux et indécis que nous sommes pour son premier jour!)

L’atout indéniable de ce restaurant, c’est la vue. Effet wahou garanti. Pour le reste, le menu à 75€ ne comporte très peu de choix et ne tient pas ses promesses. Belles présentations mais portions ridicules. Le tartare façon courge est mignon et comme tout ce qui est mignon est petit. Je crois que c’est juste la politesse qui m’a empêché de le manger en une bouchée… assez fade à la sortie.
Ensuite 2 petites tranches d’angus cuisson correcte bonne sauce mais le tout presque froid. Accompagnement anecdotique.
L’autre plat ne comptait que 3 malheureuses petites noix de Saint-Jacques.
Du coup, fromage en supplément bienvenu avant de passer aux desserts très quelconques… sauf le soufflé avec 22 € de supplément (mangé à 2) !
La carte des vins est fournie mais à des prix beaucoup trop élevés… il y a quand même moyen de se faire plaisir sans y mettre minimum 80€. Tout le monde n’est pas américain.
Le service est sympathique malheureusement sans être très efficace. Plats apportés qui ne sont pas les bons et tous pas assez chauds. Personne pour remplir les verres et la bouteille n’est pas disponible.
Pour être venu dans cet établissement il y’a une dizaine d’années et en être sorti satisfait, cette nouvelle expérience est une vraie déception. Dommage, positionnement clairement tourné vers une clientèle internationale de passage plutôt que locale.
