Stayed here for 2 nights during a trip. It was my first time in a hostel in a while, but I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were very welcoming, I even got a tour of the place upon checking in. In the hostel, there’s a living room (3 sofas and a coffee table), a very well equipped kitchen, a dining table and the Woodstock garden which has a bar and a restaurant. Did not eat at the restaurant, but the bar served some really great beers, had a fun time there. The garden also gets a lot of local visitors which makes for a great atmosphere. I stayed in a 4 person mixed dorm which in my case consisted of two single beds and a bunk bed on which curtains were attached for privacy. There was plenty space for luggage and there were also lockers present. It’s a 10 minute walk to Annecy’s inner city and train station and 2 minutes to a large grocery store. I loved my stay at this hostel and would eagerly stay here again.
As for Annecy and its surroundings: could stay there for weeks, there’s just so much to do and see. The city has a beautiful medieval centre with little canals. The lakeside is amazing and offers great views and activities. I climbed La Tournette which was beautiful and very doable with public transport, though I hitched a ride back into town. The people are also just so friendly and lovely. Everyone speaks great English and is happy to help you. A place I would recommend going to.

This is a really lovely hostel and one of the nicest I have stayed in. The beds are large, comfortable and spacious. The kitchen has everything you need and the Intermarché is super close by. I also like how small the hostel is because you get famillar with the other guests. As well as this, you can walk to Old Town within 10 mins. Shout out to Emma and Abby for their extra hospitality for me. I will come back here the next time I am in Annecy!

Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and we appreciated their willingness to assist with any questions. Our double ensuite room was spacious, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. However, there were a few concerns. Most notably, the balcony door did not close or lock properly due to a broken handle, raising safety issues. Although reported to reception, this should have been addressed prior to our stay. The exterior shutters were broken and let in significant light- replacing or adding curtains would improve comfort. The bathroom showed signs of black mould around the shower and sink, which is unhygienic. The room also smelled really strongly of damp and cigarettes. While the communal areas were well-equipped and supported ecological practices like recycling and composting, they felt cramped and uninviting. Overall good value for money, but in need of some improvements.

Great hostel, there was a fridge, cooking equipement & tea, coffee, dishwasher… only remark is that there’s only 1 toilet

You can have (your own) breakfast in the garden with bird sounds and beatiful flowers on trees.

Just be prepared for flies and know this is a hostel.

The staff who checked me in were very nice and friendly and the location is great. But I do think there’re several things can be done better. First there is nowhere to put our stuff in the bathroom AND on the bed. Like at least a chair or a small drawer in the bathroom would be very helpful. On the bed there could be a small counter/nightstand to put my phone, charger, .etc. Also I think the design of having a toilet outside the room is very inconvenient, but at least there could be some hand wash soap in the bathroom in the room. Both the toilets and shower room are tiny. Overall there’re quite many inconveniences.

L'hostel est au top !

Je suis venu pour une formation dans une école. J’ai pris 5 nuits dans le hostel, donc j'ai trouvé un super atmosphère chaque soir et j’ai rencontré plein des gens de 18 à 40 ans.

Super terrace, bar et cuisine pour faire son propre repas aussi.
Les chambres sont avec des lits confortables et draps hyper propres.

Personnel sympa des la réception jusqu’au bar et puis super ambiance avec des gens adorables.

On adore et j’ai super recommande !

Le seul bémol c’est que la salle de bain est dans la chambre ce qui fais du bruit quand on prend notre douche et elle est toute petite

This hostel is honestly everything a young traveler can ask for: The beds and rooms are kept very clean, the water in the showers gets quite hot, there’s a thriving garden with a bar and restaurant in the evenings, the kitchen is high tech, a washing machine, towels, blow dryers are all available, and most importantly the owners are absolutely delightful. I stayed one week in their private room (which felt more like a hotel room, complete with ensuite bathroom and a patio) and one week in a dorm and was not disappointed by either experience.

As a remote working American woman with a style that can garner a lot of judgement in France I have gotten used to not always being treated with kindness or respect, but that was very much so not the case here. The hostel and everyone who worked there and at the restaurant and bar offered a bubble from the streets of friendliness, kindness, and respectful communication. Celine puts tireless hours into making this place feel like home, often with her beautiful baby on her hip and adorable dog sauntering about (which personally contributed to the home like feeling I loved, having seen the negative comments about that I personally have to disagree that her child or dog were ever disruptive. I think Celine is an absolute bada** for keeping the whole place so beautiful while being a mom). The whole place is absolutely soothing to the nervous system… and yes I was once told to turn the heat down on the burner when cooking - I didn’t realize induction burners got so hot as they aren’t common in America and was grateful Celine was there to help out before I smoked out the whole kitchen.

I highly recommend travelers to book directly through their website as it allows the owners to be much more flexible and accommodating with your booking (and bonus points: it costs less than third parties)

The woman in charge is really strict, and she is always there to correct you for doing the dishes wrong or whatever.|Felt unwelcome.|The rooms were all right, we missed a towel in our room, the price is also rather high for a hostel without breakfast.|There is a dog roaming around, and the woman brought her baby to work on our last day.

The host is really strict, and always there.
It feels like having a mother telling you what to do.
Also her dog is walking around all the time, so if you’re allergic, this might not be for you.
The last day, the woman in charge wasn’t there because she brought her baby to the job, which I found rather unprofessional. She’s always around, and ready to correct her guests. Felt like I was being watched… not going back.

1 chien qui traîne dans la maison des poiles de chien partout et pour quelqu'un d'allergie ce n'est pas préciser. Service Zéro. La cuisine est pas propre. Les propriétaire sont tout le temps la on dirais un gîte non pas une auberge. Ça ne vaux rien même pas 10€/nuit à éviter

Amazing receptionist! Very comfortable sleeping, clean and homey :)

Great hostel! Very personal and nice receptionists. It was cozy and had a very social vibe. It felt clean, had a good kitchen, and washing machine. There is also space to hang out in the back garden, which is nice! And the location is great as well.

Ich war letzten Sommer in einem der Viererzimmer zur Straßenseite raus. Weil auf der Website nicht allzu viel zu diesen Zimmern an Infos steht, dachte ich mir, ich fülle einmal die Lücke aus ;)
Das Zimmer selbst war naja, eine Sitzgelegenheit wäre ganz nett gewesen und der Tisch war bei 4 Personen vergleichsweise eher ein Hocker vom Platz her (pro Person). Jeder bekommt unter den Betten eine große Schublade, man muss aber selbst ein Vorhängeschloss dabei haben. Das muss genau die richtige Größe haben, um auch das Fach verschließen zu können. Bei mir hat ein Standard-Vorhängeschloss mit ca. 6mm-Durchmesser geradeso gepasst (größer geht dann einfach nicht, Pech gehabt). Die Matratzen waren etwas dünn, aber überstehbar. Die Bettwäsche hatte teilweise Löcher oder roch schlecht. Da konnte man aber einfach nach Ersatz an der Rezeption fragen und bekam sofort welchen. Das "Bad" am eigenen Zimmer bestand aus einer geschätzt 60x60cm-Plastikduschkabine mit Türen, die sich nicht ordentlich öffnen ließen (soll heißen, es gab keine Schaniere, sondern man hat die Türen an den Drehpunkten eher gefühlt "aufgeknickt" und sobald man sie nicht mehr aufgedrückt hat, sind sie wieder zurückgeschnellt) und einem Waschbecken (wohlbemerkt mit kaputter Fliese am Wasserhahn). Es gab für die gesamte Etage 2 Toiletten: Eine für die Männer und eine für die Frauen. Weil bei uns zu dem Zeitraum mehr Männer als Frauen waren, hieß das ungefähr 10 Männer auf eine Toilette (ohne Fenster, mit Abluft während das Licht an ist, das Licht widerum mit Timer, sodass oft in den Gang gelüftet wurde nach dem Geschäft oder das Bad lange stinkig blieb). Die Gemeinschaftstoilette hatte ein kleines Handtuch, welches definitiv nicht regelmäßig genug gewechselt wurde (bei 10 Benutzern auch schwierig). Bilder vom Zimmer, "Bad" und der Toilette sind angehängt. Die Mitarbeitenden waren meist da und eine Frau hat öfters tagsüber die Bereiche saubergemacht. Sauber hat es sich trotzdem in den Gemeinschaftsräumen nicht wirklich angefühlt. Insbesondere die Küche war nur beschränkt nutzbar (um fair zu sein zum Teil aber auch, weil andere Gäste nicht hinter sich aufgeräumt haben und Lappen und Essensreste im Ausguss der Spüle liegen blieben). Es gab einen Geschirrspüler, welcher ausschließlich für Besteck, Teller und Gläser angedacht war. Dieser wurde täglich vom Personal genutzt, aber dennoch gab es regelmäßig Zeiten, wo Besteck und Teller Mangelware waren und man improvisieren musste. Der Kühlschrank hätte mal enträumt und gesäubert werden sollen. Unpraktisch war zu den Stoßzeiten (insbesondere abends), dass zu viele Leute gleichzeitig in der Küche am einzigen Herd kochen wollten. Die Dunstabzugshaube ging nur auf höchster Stufe überhaupt an, einmal war sie aus beim Kochen und es gab dadurch einen Feueralarm. Die Besitzer (oder deren Kontakte) haben Hunde, welche immer mal wieder im Erdgeschoss rumliefen, also am Essbereich, dem Gemeinschaftsraum und der Rezeption vorbei nach draußen zur Bar (für mich eher positiv, für Allergiker ist das Hostel aber also nichts). Die Bar im Hinterhof sollte man nicht als Essensgelegenheit betrachten, weil die Preise für Essen und Getränke seeehhhr teuer waren. Ob die anderen Zimmer so gut sind wie die Bilder kann ich nicht beurteilen, würde es jedoch zumindest einmal anzweifeln, da (soweit ich es mitbekommen hatte) ein Zweibettzimmer auf meiner Etage war und die Gemeinschaftstoilette dementsprechend auch für die galt. Vom Frauenhaus hab ich auch nicht viel Gutes gehört, deren Aufenthaltsraum war etwas netter als der gemeinschaftliche im vorderen Haus.
Die Lage des Hostelsist ganz gut, ca. 10min vom Altstadt-Stadtkern entfernt und mit mind. 2 Supermärkten, einer Apotheke und einer Pizzeria in der unmittelbaren Nähe. Man ist aber definitiv nicht Teil des Stadtkerns.
Annecy selbst ist definitiv ein super Reiseziel, ich würde aber jeder Person, die das Geld hat, empfehlen, woanders einzukehren. Auf etwas höhere Lebensmittelpreise usw. sollte man sich in der Region auch einstellen. Es ist grob zwischen den Preisen in Deutschland und der Schweiz.

Des conditions d’hébergement déplorables: 5 dans une chambre; 1 toilette et 2 douches pour 16 personnes. Ménage non fait, moisissures, cafards dans les cuisines. Absolument aucune aide du personnel pour améliorer la situation.

Bitte renoviert / reinigt eure Zimmer. Das kann man so einfach nicht vermieten. Auch nicht an junge Leute. Das ist absoluter Substandard.

Le lieu est merveilleux et j'ai bien dormi dans la chambre privée. Le personnel est accueillant et le bar est iconique !

Only stayed for one night, but loved this little hostel. Everyone was very friendly and coming together felt really natural because the place is well set-up for that. My bed had an outlet and a good amount of storage, and there are lockers in the rooms (bring your lock). Bathrooms were fine, never waited and the shower was attached to the room. :)

Top, venu pour le woodstock. Cadre sympa, équipe au top et bonne ambiance

Chambre propre par contre salle de bain très sale (murs pourris, rideau de douche collé...). Ambiance générale bonne. Bon service au bar.

Sehr schönes Hostel!

Die Zimmer sind geräumig und sauber, check in und check out sind reibungslos verlaufen. Im Hinterhof gibt es eine echt coole und gemütliche Bar, die allerdings nur im Sommer auf hat. Außerdem bekommt man dort als Gast um Hostel 10% Rabatt. Die Badezimmer waren ebenfalls in Ordnung, nur manchmal gab es leider kein warmes Wasser. Alles in allem ein super Hostel, ich war dort 4 Nächte und hatte als Alleinreisender sehr viel Spaß!

Really loved this hostel (: very comfy and social. It feels the way every hostel should - it’s designed for people to come together, to cook and eat together, to drink together and hang out together. The service is great too. Would recommend!

Cute little hostel in a convenient location, but the attached bar is the only downside - loud noise and lights until pretty late at night, and the hostel rooms are just a few feet above it all. Also, allowing kids at the bar after 8 pm just seems like a bad call, makes for extra noise. Otherwise, the staff was super friendly and helpful. Tons of amenities, a full, organized kitchen, and lots of deals with nearby businesses for discounts with hostel stayers.
