Great sport centre , I used tge gym weights and cardio, equipment and showers a little dated but no excuses to get the work out done.
U can use the sauna in pool shorts but NOT the pool, speedos only by law

The Centre Sportif is an unpleasant shock considering Chamonix's reputation as a "sports capital." It's old, smelly, and has terribly inconvenient hours (e.g., pool doesn't open until 2pm on weekends - at least in the winter months). The "salle de musculation" is cramped, has extremely old equipment, and seemingly has no ventilation - thus allowing you to "enjoy" the aromas of all those sweaty bodies. The mayor of Chamonix and his administration should be embarrassed by this outdated infrastructure (noting that it took years to renovate the outdoor pool). Much smaller and less affluent villages in the French and Swiss Alps have far better and more modern sports facilities. On a positive note, the indoor pool has a nice water slide. C'mon, Chamonix, do better!

Etc...

All was well, right up until we tried to exit the swimming changing rooms in our shoes.
This…. when the centre is busy is nearly an impossible task.
There are two doors on the unisex changing cubicles, neither of which are signposted at all.
Let me add that there is also NO sign directing anyone to the exit in the charging rooms… in ANY language.
Now. My point is this.
The two doors on the cubicles have no indication to say that one side goes to one of an exit corridor and one is an entrance corridor.
Upon our first attempt to exit we were viciously reprimanded by two members of staff shouting about our shoes. Obviously we needed shoes to get out, but because there was a lack of signage and no explanation of the two door cubicle system we faced a right scolding, despite our apologies for the centres ineptitude in signage.
It’s over 20 years since I last taught in France, and had forgotten most of the reasons why I chose to leave.
They all came flooding back with the viciousness of the staff members in question.
In addition the toilets in the swimming pool area had a soaking wet floor, with pee in random places and a soiled bowl from whatever pool soul has no choice but to defacate in it.
The boulder gym which everyone seems to make a deal about was smaller than looks in the creatively angled photos and was poorly ventilated - smelt like an onions armpit, with deodorant of garlic.
Gutted. We’d had a nice time Up until that moment.
